Man Gets Probation for Murder Conviction

(Hidalgo County, Texas) A 47-year-old McAllen elementary school janitor, Antonio Saldana, was convicted of murdering his neighbor and the jury sentenced him to probation.

Reportedly, Saldana thought his neighbor was having an affair with his wife. During testimony, Saldana said that the neighbor continually taunted him until he snapped and killed him.

After sentencing to 10 years probation, Saldana apologized.

Dungeon of Incest - Father Makes Daughter His Sex Slave

(Amstetten, Austria) Last weekend, the story broke of a 73-year-old father, Josef Fritzl, who imprisoned his daughter, Elisabeth, as a sex slave for 24 years in a secret dungeon and fathered her seven children.

Elisabeth, now 42, and three of her children, Kerstin, 19, Stefan, 18, and Felix, 5, were forced to live in the cellar dungeon. All three have defective immune systems and suffer from vitamin deficiencies. The eldest, 19-year-old Kerstin, is critical with kidney failure and has lost most of her teeth due to vitamin deficiency.

Three other children were taken from Elisabeth at birth. Monika, 14, Alexander, 12, and Lisa, 16, were allowed to lead seemingly normal lives upstairs with Josef and his wife, 68-year-old Rosemarie, who claims she didn't know what was going on. When reunited with daughter Elisabeth, Rosemarie said, "I am so sorry, I had no idea."

The seventh child died within three days of being born 12 years ago. DNA has confirmed that the six surviving children were all fathered by Josef Fritzl.

The whole ugly episode was exposed last Saturday when Kerstin fell into a coma and Fritzl took her to the hospital. Suspicious doctors called police.

Authorities continue to investigate. Expect more of this disgusting story.

Get Anything You Want in Brit Prisons

Here is a report that needs more exposure. In fact, people should be outraged.

Prostitutes and drugs are being smuggled into Britain's 'cushy' jails, a prison officers' leader has claimed.

Inmates have such a good time they even pass up the chances of escape, according to Glyn Travis.

Savaging Labour's prisons policy, he told how inmates benefit from satellite television, free telephone calls, breakfast in bed and officers who treat them with kid gloves for fear of breaching their human rights.

If the penal system doesn't punish, why have it?

Obama Consulted with Rip Van Winkle - Sorta

It's a thrill a minute with the Democrat Presidential nomination-seekers. However, with regard to Obama, it seems that a clue comes every twenty years. It took two decades immersed in the hate-filled windwash of Rev. Jeremiah Wright before Obama was clued in and said, "This is enough!"

And, interestingly, Obama didn't come to the realization by himself. It was the loss of support for his presidential campaign and polling results that convinced Obama to jettison Rev. Wright. It's like his only reliable political consultant is Rip Van Winkle.

[To refresh memories, Rip Van Winkle was a man who missed everything occurring around him for 20 years because he was asleep. It's a story by American author Washington Irving.]

Based on history, Obama characteristically lacks the ability to correctly react within a reasonable time period to threatening and damaging situations. He didn't react for 20 years to circumstances which have now greatly injured his political aspirations.

I contend that a question must be asked. Does America want in the Oval Office a man who is incapable of recognizing hate-America windwash?

There is, of course, another argument. Specifically, Obama didn't fail to recognize the hatred for America spewed by Rev. Wright, instead, he is a disciple of the hate-America philosophy. Take your pick. Obama is either clueless OR he possesses the hate-America ideology.

Ace Mentioned on Limbaugh

Ace of Spades HQ was cited by Rush Limbaugh as reporting the fact that Obama conducted polling prior to responding to Rev. Jeremiah Wright's incendiary remarks at the National Press Club on Monday.

After the polling, courageous Obama (described by MSM) threw his long-time pastor and spiritual leader to the wolves.

Prudent political observers would say that Obama is acting more like a typical squirmy politician than a brave and charismatic leader.

Nonetheless, kudos to Ace for reporting the nugget.

Teacher Angela Csader Sentenced - Updated

(Maricopa County, Arizona) As a result of pleading guilty to two counts of sexual conduct with a minor (a 16-year-old boy), 25-year-old Angela Csader was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail.

Csader and the teen first had sex in August 2006, and they had sex at least twice more in the next month, records show. The boy also fathered her child.

She told officers that she once drove to Gilbert High School on the boy’s lunch break to have sex in her truck.

Police learned of the situation more than a year before Csader resigned, and in May she admitted having sex with the boy. But Csader wasn’t arrested until Dec. 18.

Csader also was given 15 years probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.

(Florence, Arizona) A kindergarten teacher at Anthem Elementary School, Angela Csader, was arrested in July 2007 for engaging in a long-term sexual relationship with, and birthing a child by, a 16-year-old boy.

Csader, 25, was charged with three counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Despite the sex crime charges, Csader continued to work as a kindergarten teacher until January 2008 when the Florence Unified School District was notified.

District spokesman Larry Cline said the school found out on Jan. 30 that Csader's fingerprint card was revoked. To be certified as a teacher, state law requires a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

But DPS officials said they don't notify schools if a fingerprint check pops up.

"There is no alert system where information about a teacher arrested would be forwarded," DPS spokesman Harold Sanders said.

Sanders said his department would only send out information about sex offenders. But Csader is still awaiting trial.

Immediately after the district learned of her arrest, Csader resigned. For the sex crime charges, she has a court appearance scheduled for February 26.

Gilbert police explained that they didn't know Csader was a teacher at the time of her arrest since she claimed to be a nanny. Otherwise, they would have notified the school district.

"Immigrant" is racist

From Britain:

"Manchester United's submission to the Football Association is expected to include the claim that Patrice Evra was allegedly called "an immigrant" during the melee with Chelsea groundstaff at Stamford Bridge, The Times understands.

Chelsea and their employees have strenuously denied that any such remark was made and Evra sought at the weekend to distance himself from suggestions that he was racially abused.

Genocide in Pajamas

There seem to be very few defenders of comprehensive freedom of speech. The Left defend their right to say their stuff and attack the rights of others while Christians attack "obscene" speech and often lose in defending their own speech. The end result is that everybody feels somewhat restricted in what they can say. Even I do, libertarian though I am. Just to make sure that Google does not take any of my sites down, I always use the form "n*gger" if I have to discuss that word, for instance. I must say that I do not really understand why that small change -- which fools nobody -- makes such a big difference, but it seems to.

And what are we to make of the brave conservative bloggers at Pajamas Media? They have just expelled Gates of Vienna from their organization for using the "G-word": "genocide". GoV is a site that is devoted to defending Western civilization against Muslim attack and they frequently warn against what could happen in the future. One of the scenarios that they warned against recently was the eruption of outright war between Muslims and others in Europe, with one possible outcome of that being genocide of Muslims. The entire aim of GoV is of course to avert any such war by taking action now to defend our freedoms from attack.

GoV was quite clearly, therefore, NOT arguing for a genocide against Muslims -- quite the opposite. It aims to prevent that. But the mention of the G-word in the same sentence as a reference to Muslims was just impermissible speech to Pajamas media. What wimps and wusses they are! They have surrendered. They are doing the job of the Muslims and their Leftist allies for them. I doubt that I will ever again read or link to any of their sites. You will note that I have not done so here.

GoV have themselves been very magnanimous about the matter and have said that the Bananas in Pajamas had every right to do what they did. Undoubtedly they do but what does it say about their character or the value of reading them? Do drop by at GoV and give them what support you can.

Canadian Immigration System "Near Collapse"

(Ottawa, Canada) Before a parliamentary committee, Immigration Minister Diane Finley proclaimed alarm regarding the backlog of immigration applications. Going from 925,000 now to 1.5 million in 2012, the system will present a 10-year wait to new faces.

Finley voiced the concern that people with high-demand skills are being lost to nations with more efficient immigration systems.

"The current system, if left unchanged, is on track to collapse under its own weight. The system needs fixing," Finley said.

"We are facing real and serious international competition for the talents and skills that we need to fill," she said, calling for a "renewed" vision for the immigration system.

The renewed system would apparently allow her to cherry-pick who gets processed and who doesn't. Helluva deal! Of course, the minister would have to be a person of infinite honesty, unbending to political pressure and impossible to bribe. Good luck finding someone with those qualities.

But Finley downplayed concerns the new law would allow her to cherry-pick immigrants.

Downplaying the concerns doesn't make them disappear, Minister Finley.

In any event, the committee wasn't very receptive to the idea -- not because immigrants would be cherry-picked but likely because they could be. Current legislation processes applications as they are received and it will not change. So, folks, get in line.

McCain Campaign Dumps Hezbollah Agent

It's astonishing that a presidential campaign organization would end up with a terrorist agent as a member. But it happened.

Ali Jawad, a proud Hezbollah supporter, was a Michigan Finance Committee member for John McCain until it was noticed by people who know Jawad's history. He has now been unceremoniously jettisoned from the McCain campaign organization. Debbie Schlussel has the scoop.

Transylvanian Librarian Goes Wild

(Brasov, Romania) A 43-year-old professor at the University of Transylvania, Angela Repanovici, has been sacked from her position as chief librarian for inappropriate conduct.

Repanovici was dismissed after a video appeared on YouTube which shows her doing an Eastern European version of gal-gone-wild. She exposed her unmentionables in an undulating striptease dance.

Someone carried a cameraphone into the party of colleagues in the university library and then posted the video on YouTube. Professor Repanovici claims she is the victim of blackmail and wants the police to identify the person who filmed and posted the video.

Although she lost the library job, the university will allow her to continue teaching mechanical engineering. However, she has been banned from occupying any leadership position for three years.

Personally, I'd question just what is being served in the school cafeteria which might contribute to craziness among a group of librarians. Also, this incident provides some evidence that not all librarians are stereotypical stuffy prudes.

More BBC censorship

"Separatist" and "moderate" are apparently bad words:

"The BBC is facing a High Court challenge over its decision to censor a party political broadcast in the run-up to Thursday's local elections. A Christian party has begun legal action after the corporation insisted on changes to a short film in which the party voiced opposition to the building of Europe's biggest mosque next to the site of the 2012 Olympics.

Tablighi Jamaat, the Islamic missionary group behind the 75 million pound Abbey Mills mosque, opposes inter-faith dialogue and preaches that non-Muslims are an evil and corrupting influence. One of its British advocates has said that it aims to rescue Muslims from the culture and civilisation of Jews and Christians by creating "such hatred for their ways as human beings have for urine and excreta".

The Christian Choice election broadcast would have described Tablighi Jamaat as "a separatist Islamic group" before welcoming that some "moderate Muslims" were opposed to the mosque complex.

Alan Craig, the party's candidate in the London mayoral election, also on Thursday, said that he was forced to change the wording at the insistence of lawyers at the BBC and ITV, which will also feature in the court action.

The BBC refused to accept "separatist" - the corporation asked for "controversial" instead - and barred the use of "moderate Muslims" because the phrase implied that Tablighi Jamaat was less than moderate.

As the BBC is compulsorily supported by the taxpayer (and even some non-taxpayers are made to cough up), one would hope it had some obligation to speak the truth rather than cover it up. Silly of me to think that, I guess.

Free Tibet Flags "Made in China"

Here's a chuckle-worthy report from China.

Just as the Olympic flame is about to reach Hong Kong and mainland China, the Guangdong province police have recently uncovered a case in which a cheap-rate factory in Guangdong was filling out orders by overseas Tibet splittist organizations to manufacture the snow-mountain-lion flags of Free Tibet.

The factory workers thought that they were just making some colorful flags. But some workers had watched Hong Kong television and seen the flag before. They also went on the Internet and checked. When they found out what the flags were, they called the police immediately.

The Guangdong police intercepted several thousand printed flags that were packed for shipment, and they determined many people to assist in their investigation. The factory owner said that the flags were ordered from overseas, and he did not know that these flags stand for Tibet independence.

Naturally, Chinese authorities are painfully embarrassed and anticipate that some of the flags will show up during the Olympic torch run in Hong Kong and elsewhere.

Aussie Drug-User Group Talks Up Meth

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) is in a tussle with the Australian Injecting and Illicit Drug Users League (AIIDUL).

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) says methamphetamine users are violent and threatening towards hospital staff and are putting a huge strain on emergency departments.

The AIIDUL balks at calling meth users violent. Spokeswoman Annie Madden says that meth users are usually just recreational and not psychotic.

"There are some people who do, a minority who do, and that's usually related to extended periods of binge using, with people not sleeping, not eating - that sort of thing," she said.

Heh. I guess using meth is pretty much okay then, but don't call meth users violent or they'll get mad.

Curiously, isn't it interesting and appropriate that the pro-illegal-drug advocacy group's initials (AIIDUL) are pronounced "idle?"

Ohio Democrat Quits Over Topless Pic Incident

(Columbus, Ohio) Democrat State Representative Matthew Barrett has resigned over last week's incident at Norwalk High School where he showed a picture of a topless woman to a U.S. government class of about 20 seniors.

Barrett first said he didn’t know how the image had become intermingled with his graphics presentation. After it appeared on the screen, the state lawmaker immediately shut down the computer and finished the presentation using paper handouts.

A later review by the Norwalk police, with help from the state Highway Patrol, found one of Barrett’s four children had downloaded the image.

Ohio House Democratic leader Joyce Beatty said Barrett acknowledged not being truthful about the matter and she immediately demanded his resignation Thursday.

Beatty said she was "shocked and appalled" by Barrett's mendacity.

It's disturbing that Barrett would lie about the picture. Additionally, word is out that Barrett has nude pictures of two women on his memory stick/flash drive and that he also knows the women in the pictures. They're from his district.

Now, could someone please tell me what kind of politician carries around naked pictures of his constituents?

Girl, 15, Pimped Out on Craigslist

(Vallejo, California) A 37-year-old local mom, Lavern Vaughn, and her 20-year-old son, Lavor Carter, were arrested by FBI agents for allegedly selling a 15-year-old girl for sex. Mother and son have been charged with sex trafficking.

Federal prosecutors said they found 680 postings on Craigslist, where Carter allegedly pimped the 15-year old girl for sex.

"She says, ultimately, she had as many as 1,200 customers for Carter," said Larry Brown, first assistant U.S. Attorney. "When she would talk about wanting to leave he would threaten to kill her and use physical harm."

The federal indictment alleges Carter would whip her with a belt and plastic rod, burn her with a lighter, or strike her. She reportedly tried to leave Carter on multiple occasions, but he told her that if she left, she would not leave alive.

Reportedly, Lavern Vaughn would drive the girl all over Northern Caliifornia to have sex with men, making as much as $300 a day.

Maryland Woman and Boy, 13

(Kitzmiller, Maryland) A 31-year-old local woman, Andrea Overstreet, was arrested by Garrett County Sheriff's deputies for allegedly raping a 13-year-old boy. Overstreet faces four counts of second degree rape and second degree assault. She is also facing one count of perverted sexual practice.

It's believed that Overstreet was mixing it up with the boy for a period of at least four months.

Overstreet was booked into custody at the Garrett County Detention Center with bond set at $50,000.

Kitzmiller is a tiny-speck community in the far western section of the panhandle of Maryland.

At the recent White House dinner:

"Senator McCain's not here," Bush said of GOP nominee-in-waiting John McCain. "He probably wanted to distance himself from me a little bit. You know, he's not alone. Jenna's moving out too."

Bush then referred to scandals that have dogged the campaigns of the two remaining Democratic candidates, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, in explaining their absence: "Hillary Clinton couldn't get in because of sniper fire and Senator Obama's at church."

Jenna is, of course, getting married. One of the other three is going to have to learn their comedy timing for next year's event.

(Johnston County, North Carolina) A teacher of exceptional children at West Johnston High School, Marilyn Bulifant, was suspended this week because of allegations that she exposed herself to her students.

An investigation has been launched.

Kansas Woman, 18, and Boy, 13

(Shawnee, Kansas) An 18-year-old local woman, Jessica Nicole Lee, has been charged with rape of a child for allegedly engaging in sex with a 13-year-old boy.

Reportedly, the boy was a sixth-grader Lee met at an alternative school and he lied to her about his age. He said he was 16 going on 17. Lee apparently believed him or didn't care.

It's reported that the 13-year-old boy bragged about the alleged sex which led to the charges.

Look Who's Talking about Change, Unity and Peace

As I get older, I become more convinced that hypocrisy and irony must be as blind as a bat, for those who practice it seem oblivious to the fact that they wear it like a clown suit at a formal wedding; plain as day, badly out of place and amusing to boot. You can change clothes, you can change diapers and you can change the channel on your television set, but you have a better chance of finding change at a nudist colony than you have of finding it between these two.

Unity is another popular slogan but, if this pair is any indication, the only thing uniting liberals is their individual selfishness and arrogance undermining their collective interest and agenda. If too many cooks spoil the soup, then this soup has become a diluted, jumbled and highly intoxicating superficial stew.

OH speak of unity, brotherhood, sisterhood and neighborhood even as they prove on a daily basis that they need to check under the hood and see why their actions have never met their words. How can we believe two people who claim to be messengers of unity when they cannot even find a way to unify their own party? How can we listen to two people who ask us to hug each other when they seem more likely to slug each other? How can we heed their calls to heal our wounds when they seem more adept at rubbing salt in their own?

New security rules have been established at the Trinity United Church, former home of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and historical center of worship for presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Visitors approaching church entrances are immediately greeted by signs on the glass doors directing members of the news media to sign in at the front desk. More signs warn: "NO CAMERA & NO RECORDING DEVICES."

Paid Interviews in Abu Ghraib Documentary

The day after a documentary on Abu Ghraib opened and it was disclosed that former soldiers were paid to appear in it, the NYTimes broaches the subject of the appropriateness of paying interviewees in documentaries.

Titled "Standard Operating Procedure" and made by Errol Morris, an Oscar-winning filmmaker, the 'documentary' examines prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib through the eyes of paid interviewees, "bad apples" as Morris calls them.

Word of the payments drew conflicting reactions among those in the world of film documentaries, where show business values have been known to collide with the more austere standards of good journalism.

Right. Never paying for factual content is the rule for journalists -- unlike those scamps in show business. I would suggest that when all else fails, austere standards prompt journalists to pull something out of thin "anonymous" air rather than pay for it.

Nevertheless, the Times has slipped the paid-interview issue on the table, indicating that there are opposing yet valid arguments on the subject, worthy of debate. I'd disagree. A film shouldn't be called a documentary if it contains paid content.

Call me a purist but I think a documentary should simply document, not implement.

Pennsylvania Woman Arrested for WMD Threat

(Shickshinny, Pennsylvania) An 18-year-old woman, Sarah Marie Myers, was jailed this week for allegedly threatening to bomb the home of President Judge Mark A. Ciavarella of the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.

Authorities were alerted after Myers told a youth counselor of her plan and also revealed that she had already scoped out the location of the judge's home and surveilled the street.

Myers has been charged with retaliation against a judge, threatening with weapons of mass destruction and terroristic threats. Interestingly, the WMD charge is only a misdemeanor.

Myers blames Judge Ciavarella for ruining her life by "always putting her away" when she was a juvenile. She allegedly intended to end Judge Ciavarella's life in return.

Judge Ciavarella told police that he was familiar with Myers and considered her threats to be a serious danger for him and his family.

Arraignment before Magisterial District Judge John Hasay in Shickshinny was Thursday. Myers was booked into custody at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility with bail set at $35,000.

Notably, before this episode Myers was scheduled for trial on charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault for wrestling a state trooper to the ground and assaulting him in a neighbor's yard.

Court Rules Unanimously: Illinois School Must Allow "Be Happy, Not Gay" T-shirt

We read:

" The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit reversed a lower court's ruling against an Illinois student Wednesday, saying the district court must order a Naperville high school to suspend its ban on a T-shirt that reads "Be Happy, Not Gay" while the student's lawsuit proceeds. School officials prohibited student Alex Nuxoll, who is represented by Alliance Defense Fund attorneys, from wearing the clothing.

"Christian students shouldn't be discriminated against for expressing their beliefs," said ADF Senior Counsel Nate Kellum. "Public school officials cannot censor a message expressing one viewpoint on homosexual behavior and then at the same time allow messages that express another viewpoint. The court's ruling is a victory for all students seeking to protect their First Amendment rights on a school campus."

Nuxoll, a student at Neuqua Valley High School, desires to express his perspective at various times throughout the year, including the next school day after the "Day of Silence." Other students at the school are permitted to wear shirts with messages supporting homosexual behavior as part of the "Day of Silence," which is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network. The 7th Circuit ruling prevents school officials from singling out Nuxoll's message for censorship.

Child Molester Jane Attwood Gets Supervision

Judge Andrew Trollope sentenced Jane Attwood to a three-year supervision order which I'm assuming is probation.

The judge told her that "she had behaved in a 'deplorable and unjustifiable' manner in fondling the boy, carrying out another sex act on him and making him perform one on her at a screening of Jackass 2 in central London."

Attwood will also be added to the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

(London, England) A 36-year-old married mom, Jane Attwood, admitted her guilt during prosecution for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy she grabbed up in a movie theater.

According to The Sun:

Jane Attwood, 36, fondled the teenager, carried out another sex act on him and made him perform one on her at a screening of Jackass 2 in central London.

Apparently, the carrying out was so pleasurable that Attwood called the boy at home. The boy's mother became suspicious and she alerted the authorities.

It's not exactly clear what happens next. Attwood admitted she committed three sexual offenses, however, she "was bailed and the case adjourned for reports." I suspect it means that Attwood is out on bail while pre-sentencing evaluations are conducted.

From another source it's reported that horrified filmgoers looked on as Attwood molested the young lad.

Attwood had canoodled with the lad before taking him from Dagenham Station to central London to see comedy movie, Jackass 2, on December 9, 2006.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 25th.

If You Die in Cuba, Gov't Cuts Out Your Organs

(Havana, Cuba) A young Bolivian girl, Beatriz Porco Calle, reportedly died of a rare illness while studying in Cuba. When the body of Beatriz, accompanied by all the other Bolivian students, was returned to her native land, her sister, Sofia Porco Calle, held a news conference.

The woman told the newspaper that several Cuban officials who came on the same flight wanted to take the body of her sister to another city to conduct an autopsy, but the family intervened and didn't allow the body to be moved.

"The autopsy was performed at the Hospital de Clinicas. My little sister's body didn't have any organs, teeth, eyes, it was without her tongue. There was a sponge in place of her brain and more sponges in her stomach," the woman said during the press conference.

The most incredible part of the story is that Cuban officials told the relatives of the dead student, that the deal that they signed with the Bolivian government says that those students who die while in Cuba will be sent back without their organs. [my bold]

What kind of deal is that? A foreigner dies and the Cuban government has blanket authority to perform an autopsy and harvest the organs? I don't believe it. There is no such deal because it doesn't make a lick of sense.

Adding to this disgusting episode is the report that the family of the dead girl was threatened with "reprisals" by Cuban officials if they made the case public.

Realistically, though, nobody should be surprised. It's just business as usual in your typical police-state socialist utopia.

(Kabul, Afghanistan) For those who believe that blogs are good things which provide communication, information and venues for discussion, this report is quite welcome.

Blogging is a new phenomenon in Afghanistan, and only a few people make professional use of it. Therefore holding such workshops for the first time by the Afghan Association of Blog Writers can speed up this process and facilitate the work of Afghan bloggers.

Blogging is new in Afghanistan and today most of students and youth start to use it. Even though there are many obstacles for accessing the internet, the Afghan youth refer more and more to this than before, and the number of Afghan bloggers dramatically grows by the day.

Cyclists Die on 'Road Of Death'

(La Paz, Bolivia) In the past week, a 22-year-old British cyclist, Tom Austin, and a 56-year-old Californian, Kenneth Mitchell, have died on the notorious Road of Death in Bolivia, a 40-mile stretch that descends 11,800 feet from La Paz to Coroico.

In its most dangerous section, the road is one unpaved lane hacked out of the mountainside, bordered by 3,000-foot cliffs.

A staggering percentage of its curves are blind, and a cautionary "look-out" honk is usually all the warning you'll get from the many trucks carrying bananas and other tropical products uphill.

In several sections, waterfalls crash directly onto the road, and it can be muddy throughout.

Grave markings litter the Road of Death, pointing to the hundreds of lives lost after Bolivian buses have plunged off its 3,300-foot cliffs.

Texas Teacher and Male Student, 16

(Atlanta, Texas) A 32-year-old English teacher at Atlanta High School, Melissa Kay Lee, was arrested last week for allegedly having an improper relationship with a 16-year-old male student.

Lee was picked up on a warrant for sexual assault and another warrant for improper relationship between educator and student. Both offenses are second degree felonies.

Atlanta Independent School District Superintendent Roger Hailey said the district could not make any comment on the subject as it was a personnel matter that is under investigation.

Lee was booked into custody at the Cass County Jail and later released on $25,000 bond.

Notably, according to the Atlanta Independent School District website, Melissa Lee (Missy Lee) is married with at least two children. She likes to read and teaching has been her lifelong dream.

Atlanta is a small community about 30 miles SSW of Texarkana.

Female Teacher Caught Smoking Dope in School

(Waukegan, Illinois) Authorities are investigating a female math teacher at Waukegan High School who was allegedly caught Tuesday smoking marijuana in the bathroom. A fellow employee reported the incident to school officials.

According to Waukegan Schools Superintendent Donaldo Batiste, her name is being withheld and no charges have been filed thus far.

"An employee is said to have witnessed the incident and we picked up the remains of what appears to be marijuana," Batiste said.

The teacher is on paid leave.

THAT WAFFLE WAS MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN YOU MIGHT THINK

Obama's now-famous remark: "Why can't I just eat my waffle?" has been much noted. Google has over 19,000 mentions of it. And the message taken from it has generally been that Obama is a haughty elitist who does not like to be questioned. I think that there is much more than that to it, however. Read the following report from last month to put it in context:

Early morning trainers and exercisers at the Greenville, Miss., YMCA on Mississippi primary day last Tuesday got a taste of Sen. Barack Obama's reclusiveness, which the traveling press corps has learned to accept.

After speaking at Tougaloo College on Monday night, Obama went to the "Y" at 6:30 a.m. for a workout. He greeted nobody and did not respond when people there called out to him. That aloofness has been the pattern in the Democratic presidential candidate's behavior toward reporters who cover him.

After finishing his workout, Obama returned to his gregarious campaign mode with a visit to black-owned Buck's restaurant in Greenville before leaving the state. He won Mississippi comfortably against Sen. Hillary Clinton.

The above quote and the waffle remark are both telling us the same thing: That Obama has difficulty keeping up his "nice guy" image. Keeping it up quite simply wears him out. It is not who he really is so keeping up that image tires him and he just HAS to rest from it. It is not who he really is.

And as someone who has studied psychopathy (I have a couple of academic journal articles on the subject) that is very familiar. Psychopaths also typically present a "nice guy" image -- something that sucks in the females wholesale. The psychopath says and does all the right things and people promptly put their trust in him. And then when they least expect it, he "goes bad" on them. "Why did he do that?" is the typical distressed response, "He was so nice and then he went and did ....".

The sucker in the story gets very thoroughly betrayed and has no clue as to why the psychopath suddenly changed. The answer, of course, is that the nice guy act was all a pretense in the first place and because it was not genuine the psychopath just could not keep it up for long. The "change" that distressed the sucker was the mask being dropped and the psychopath reverting to his true type.

And that is what we see in both reports of Obama's behaviour above. By the time he got to his waffle he just could not keep up his act, even under the full glare of media scrutiny. He HAD to have a rest from acting. So the Obama we see on the campaign trail is just a false front for the very dismal soul that lies beneath it. If America elects Obama, it will not get what it voted for. It will get a horror. An entire nation will have been conned.

Bill Clinton is a psychopath too. He too is known for suddenly "losing it" at times. But Slick Willy was led around by his penis. Obama will probably be led around by the hate that he sucked up in listening to 20 years of Jeremiah Wright's preaching.

Wild Party at Teacher's House!

(Bossier City, Louisiana) A 42-year-old teacher at Byrd High School in Shreveport, Leanne Marie Burt, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly hosting a wild party with high school students involving alcohol drinking games and inappropriate sexual behavior.

Burt has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and letting a disorderly place.

Additionally, related charges have been filed against a teacher at Airline High School, Tricia Cooney, 35, who stopped at Burt's house but reportedly didn't know about the party. She left as more and more students arrived, according to her lawyer. Cooney was cited by police to come to court and answer charges of improper supervision of a minor.

Those present at the party were ages 16 to 20 years and sexual activity began after Burt went to bed at 3:30 AM, according to Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen.

Burt and Cooney have been placed on leave by their respective school systems.

Florida Teacher Busted for Drugs

(Tampa, Florida) A 32-year-old learning-disbilities teacher at Carrollwood Elementary School, Jennifer Shepherd, was arrested last Friday for alleged drug possession.

According to the arrest report, Shepherd was spotted by police about 3:15 AM (on a school day) on the street trying to "conceal drugs behind her back."

Police found Shepherd with an unspecified amount of cocaine, half an Adderall pill, a snorting tube and a stick used for cutting or sifting. The paraphernalia tested positive for cocaine, the report shows.

Shepherd was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She in on paid leave from the school.

She was booked into custody at the Orient Road Jail and later released on $4,500 bail.

Stalker Help Center

(Berlin, Germany) To help stalkers overcome their urges, a walk-in stalker help center has been opened.

The Stop Stalking organisation said the aim of its centre in Berlin was to give support to stalkers for whom there has until now been little help on offer.

"We want to be able to reach stalkers in the first place, and to not only make them aware of the legal consequences for them if they continue to stalk, but to also give them the support they need to stop doing it," said Wolf Ortiz-Müller, a psychologist and the head of the centre, which is financed by legal fines and donations.

A team of psychotherapists, psychologists and social workers would try to help stalkers kick the habit, he said.

The program consists of a series of 15 help sessions for each stalker which "redirect his inner focus on something else."

I don't know what to think of this other than it would be exceedingly weird to work in a place that had a bunch of admitted-stalkers. Talk about paranoia. You couldn't help but think that everyone was looking at you.

Female Coach Accused of Sex with Girl

(Chesapeake, Virginia) A 23-year-old Norfolk Academy JV girls basketball coach, Ashley Kristen Samaniego, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly engaging in sex with a 17-year-old female student. She has been charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The student's parents alerted the police indicating that Samaniego picked the girl up on school grounds on several occasions.

According to this comment thread, Ashley Samaniego states:

For all of you that can't read, note that it says "accused".. the truth of the matter is that the 17 yr old minor was beat up by her mother and ran away to a neighbor's house to call for help. I picked her up, got her out of a hostile environment, and released her to two of her mother's friends who are teachers. For that reason only I was charged with contributing to the delinquency (she ran away) of a minor. Had I done something vulgar or perverted, I would have been charged more severely. It's my advice that you get the real story prior to judging.

Other commenters dispute her assertions. Apparently, Samaniego has a close relationship with the U.S. Navy as also reflected in comments. More story to come.

Samaniego was booked and released Tuesday night.

Preschool Teacher Sentenced in Drug Case

(Carson City, Nevada) After pleading guilty to sale of a controlled substance, 20-year-old Brittany Baxter-Stuchell was sentenced this week by District Judge Michael Gibbons to 30 days in jail and three years probation.

Baxter-Stuchell was caught in a sting operation in February 2007.

According to court documents, the sheriff's Street Enforcement Team set up the purchase.

Baxter-Stuchell allegedly took the cocaine from her purse and said she could provide marijuana, Ecstasy or hallucinogenic mushrooms.

She said Monday she no longer associates with her co-defendants, one of whom had been her boyfriend.

"These are not people or situations I surround myself with," she said.

"You may not think you're a drug dealer - you're not importing drugs from Colombia - but in pleading guilty to sale of a controlled substance, you're a drug dealer," Gibbons said.

Her lawyer, Derrick Lopez, said Baxter-Stuchell realized the felony conviction put her dreams of becoming a teacher on hold for at least 15 years until her record may be sealed.

"She did have dreams of becoming a teacher," Lopez said. "She knows now that is gone for a very long time. That is a significant punishment."

She received probation because she cooperated with law enforcement in other drug investigations.

"I know I made a very big mistake," Baxter-Stuchell said. "I am not on drugs. I hurt my family very badly and I hurt my schooling. I am taking full responsibility."

Judge Gibbons also ordered Baxter-Stuchell to graduate from high school, or get her GED, to pay $1,000 restitution and to pay reimbursement for her court-appointed attorney.

(Carson City, Nevada) A preschool teacher at the Capital Christian Daycare Center, 19-year-old Brittany Baxter-Stuchell, has been accused of selling 24 grams of cocaine in a police undercover sting operation last February.

Baker-Stuchell has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

"You're accused of selling dope and a lot of it. What's the matter with you?" asked East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl. "You don't have a clue."

A court appearance is scheduled for December 12th. Baxter-Stuchell was released on her own recognizance.

Police go after blogger who criticized them

We read:

"An anonymous blogger in Whitewater, Wisconsin has been critical of the police chief and how he runs things. He has been critical of various aspects of the town government as well. He recently criticized government roundups of alleged illegal immigrants for instance.

Police chief James Coan did not take kindly to be criticized so he had city employees begin an investigation in order to try to find out who was publishing the blog. Coan used his position in the police department to get two detectives, the director of public works, the information technology officer and the city clerk involved in searching for the identity of the blogger -- all at taxpayer's expense."

Coan had the blogger listed as a "suspect" even though he had broken no laws. Coan tried to bullshit his way out of the mess he created by claiming that the blogger was a "potential threat" because he was "so extremely angry at me".

Sex Perv, Three Girls, Four Cows

(Moorestown, New Jersey) A 38-year-old Moorestown Police Officer, Robert Melia Jr., was accused yesterday of animal cruelty for allegedly engaging in sex with cows. Melia was already in jail after being arrested earlier this month and charged for sexually assaulting three girls.

Melia's former girlfriend, Heather Lewis, 32, is also in jail on charges related to sexually assaulting the same three girls between 2003 and 2006.

The animal cruelty charges resulted after police raided Melia's home and seized his computer. Evidence collected indicated that Melia had been amorous on four occasions with cows. Consequently, four counts of animal cruelty were lodged.

Additional charges of sex assault on a juvenile have been filed against Heather Lewis, 32, of Pemberton Township, the former girlfriend of a Moorestown policeman also charged with similar sexual assaults.

Superior Court Judge Thomas Smith Jr. raised bail from $300,000 to $400,000 for Lewis today after she was charged with two more sexual assault charges involving an alleged fourth victim in August and September 2007.

Asst. Burlington County prosecutor Kevin Morgan declined to say whether the fourth victim is a boy or a girl. Huh? Maybe it is neither.

Arizona Woman Accused of Sex with Boy

(Yuma, Arizona) A 29-year-old woman, Melissa King, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly engaging in sex with a 16-year-old neighbor boy. King faces two counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

According to Capt. Eben Bratcher of the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, the boy's mother alerted authorities to the inappropriate sexual behavior by King. Bratcher said that King was allegedly involved with the boy on at least two occasions.

King was booked into custody at the Yuma County Jail with bond set at $31,345.

Marmot Killing Fields

(Reno, Nevada) Oh my gawd! They're killing all the marmots in Reno. The city has even hired a marmot-killing company.

Check the comment thread to get a sense of the controversy. The "Save the Marmot" crowd pleads that they are cuddly and cute and should be relocated instead of killed. The "Kill the Marmot" people claim that they are stinking vermin, pests that carry bubonic plague.

Since I'm in Ohio and the marmots are in Nevada, I don't really care how the issue is resolved, but I'm generally an anti-vermin type of guy. On the other hand, Robert Koehler of The Marmot's Hole has a closer association with the animal so he might have some remarks.

Starfruit Reported Life-Threatening to Renal Patients

(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Although formal studies have yet to be completed, a Malaysian doctor has raised the alarm about eating starfruit (also called carambola). Reportedly, starfruit can be life-threatening to patients with kidney problems.

Professor Dr Tan Si Yen, a medical specialist at the University Malaya Medical Centre, said the fruit contains a neurotoxin and a high level of oxalic acid (or oxalate) which could be harmful to renal patients.

Dr Tan was referring to retiree Tang Gon Seang, who allegedly slipped into a coma after eating starfruit in China.

Dr Tan said the weakened kidneys of renal patients were not able to process the high level of oxalate, causing the organ to fail.

Speaking at the MCA Public Service and Complaints Bureau yesterday, he said typical symptoms occurred within one to five hours. They include persistent hiccups, nausea, vomiting, agitation, insomnia, mental confusion and convulsions.

"It can also cause death but it can be treated through aggressive dialysis sessions," said Dr Tan, adding that no deaths had been recorded so far.

Starfruit is popular and consumed worldwide so this is a nice heads up on a potential problem. People with renal insufficiency should keep it in mind until studies are completed and a medical opinion is published.

"A coalition of American Muslim groups is demanding that Sen. John McCain stop using the adjective "Islamic" to describe terrorists and extremist enemies of the United States.

Muneer Fareed, who heads the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), told The Washington Times that his group is beginning a campaign to persuade Mr. McCain to rephrase his descriptions of the enemy. "We've tried to contact his office, contact his spokesperson to have them rethink word usage that is more acceptable to the Muslim community," Mr. Fareed said. "If it's not our intent to paint everyone with the same brush, then certainly we should think seriously about just characterizing them as criminals, because that is what they are."

An aide to Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee who is counting on his pro-Iraq war stance to attract conservative voters, said the senator from Arizona will not drop the word.

Switzerland Freezes Iranian Assets

(Geneva, Switzerland) In accordance with UN sanctions, Switzerland said today that it has frozen the assets of 12 Iranian companies.

The 12 companies, and 13 individuals, have been added to an existing blacklist of 23 companies and 27 people. Five Iranian nationals are also banned from entering and passing through Switzerland, the country's Federal Council said in a statement.

Switzerland will also ban the delivery of so-called "dual use" materials that could be used for the manufacture of nuclear plants, and the export of some drones and missiles, the statement said.

The UN Security Council last month imposed its third set of sanctions against Iran in the space of 15 months to punish Tehran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment, which world powers fear Iran could use to make nuclear weapons.

The resolution gives Iran three months to comply with demands to suspend uranium enrichment, and includes an outright ban on travel by officials involved in Tehran's nuclear and missile programmes, as well as broadening a list of individuals and entities subject to an assets freeze.

It's not clear what impact the freeze will have but it must sting.

Jemaah Islamiah Banned in Indonesia

(Jakarta, Indonesia) This is welcome news and about time.

THE Indonesian Government has endorsed a court's decision to outlaw the radical Jemaah Islamiah network, sparking intense debate about whether the move is a turning point in the region's battle against terrorism.

Kristiarto Legowo of the Foreign Ministry said, "I think the essence here is it [JI] is now banned and that we are all bound by it."

The ban needs to be confirmed by the Supreme Court.

Woman Offs Husband in Sex Ritual

As a regular news consumer, I'm usually not surprised by cultural eccentricities in society, however, this week has produced two stories that have me shaking my head.

1) First, there's the reported case in Tennessee where a woman, Rebecca Bargy, allegedly kills her 29-year-old husband, James Bargy, during a sex ritual.

According to the arrest warrant, 25-year-old Rebecca Bargy placed duct tape over James Bargy's mouth and eyes, put a ball gag in his mouth and then tied a bandage around his head, leaving only his nostrils showing.

She also tied his hands and legs behind his back.

Now, I naturally interpret that a sex ritual encompasses some kind of enjoyment -- you know, like sex -- instead of just being tied up and gagged. So, where's the sex part?

Well, it turns out that the sex part happens when Rebecca Bargy leaves her husband bound and gagged and goes to a motel, meets a man and has continuous sex with him for nearly an entire calendar day. That's the sex part. He gets tied up, she has sex. Some ritual, eh?

After 20 hours, Rebecca returns and, unfortunately, finds James dead. Presumably, he wasn't supposed to die. Rather, on Rebecca's return he was likely supposed to be told the enjoyable details of the sex part of the sex ritual -- I guess. Hell, I don't know. None of this sex ritual makes a lick of sense to me.

In any event, after James was found, authorities were notified and Maury County Sheriff's deputies arrested Rebecca for reckless homicide. She was booked into the Maury County Jail without bond.

2) The second story involved the CNN celebrity guy, Richard Quest, prancing around Central Park in NYC at three o'clock in the morning with a rope tied to his genitals. See earlier entry and if you can explain what was going on, please leave a comment. Previously, I would have wagered a paycheck that the words "rope" and "genitals" would never appear in the same sentence, at least not one written by me.

In conclusion, I have no idea what to think about these two stories.

Wisconsin Woman Accused of Sex with Boy

(Sheboygan, Wisconsin) An 18-year-old local woman, Heather L. Heinen, was accused this week of engaging in sex with a 13-year-old boy. Heinen faces one count of felony sexual assault of a child under 16 years old.

The boy, who said he has known Heinen for two years, told police the two had sex at Heinen’s home sometime in mid-March, according to a criminal complaint. He said having sex was Heinen’s idea, the complaint said.

According to the comment thread at the link, Heinen comes from a broken home, has the mind of a child and was raised by a cancer-inflicted grandmother. It's believed that she cannot fully understand the charges leveled against her.

If convicted, Heinen reportedly could be sentenced to 25 years in prison. I don't think so. More likely, she'll see probation and counseling.

Foster Mom Accused of Sex with Foster Son

(Stafford, Virginia) Last month, a 33-year-old drug court therapist, Suzanne Ibsen Collares, was indicted for engaging in sexual relations with her teenage foster son.

Collares was charged with 10 counts of statutory rape and 10 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. She was booked into custody at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Reportedly, the boy was in middle school when the alleged sex began.

Details about the incidents are scarce, but the indictments show that the sex acts were alleged to have occurred between March of 2005 and August of last year at Collares’ Argyle Hills home, where she lived or lives with her husband in southern Stafford.

Olsen said the boy, who no longer lives with Collares, reported the allegation to authorities.

Yesterday, a Stafford Circuit Court judge reversed an earlier decision and granted bond of $25,000 to Collares. She was originally denied bond due to erroneous information given to the judge that she had other crimes pending litigation.

Collares' trial is scheduled for June 12.

Spermella - A Good Idea?

The British are gangbusters for research to create human sperm from females. The goal is to create babies without any male involvement. It's an initiative promoted by the same-sex community.

Sperm derived from females would logically have to be renamed, don't you think? How about spermella? Or spermeoba? Matrisperm? Spermette? Femsperm? Honeysperm? Autosperm? Instasperm? Spermoselle?

I can see it now -- inside an incubator in a laboratory, surrounded by other petrie dishes. The temperature is controlled at 98.6 degrees and the room lighting is subdued, coming from a lone Bunsen burner. A sound system plays Barbra Striesand's People over and over. Spermella slowly advances to a real human egg -- and then ....

Oh, the mind wanders. Honestly, though, I think sperm derived from females is a lousy idea. They wouldn't swim as fast nor as powerfully as male sperm and they would likely want to stop for directions. Real sperm don't ask for directions.

For the presumed murder of Nina Reiser, 44-year-old husband Hans Reiser's attorney offers the duck-billed platypus defense. Counsel contends that all evidence is circumstantial since no body has been found and, although the evidence points to Hans Reiser as the killer, he is an eccentric and paranoid person of atypical characteristics, like a platypus, which can explain away the evidence. Defense Attorney William DuBois called him platypusian.

For murders committed in April 2007, defense counsel for 24-year-old Gregory Decay intends to argue that trauma caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 is mitigating evidence. Decay is on trial this week for pulling the trigger and killing Kevin Jones and Kendall Rice, both 24.

U.S. Attorney Blows Human Smuggling Case

The U.S. Attorney in Maine is being accused of non-responsiveness by a Canadian Provincial Court. As a result, prosecution of three alleged human smugglers didn't happen. I'm not surprised. Whether it's a lack of resources or a lack of will, the feds are regularly dropping the ball on border security.

ST. STEPHEN, New Brunswick -- Three Charlotte County men who last year allegedly attempted to smuggle two people from Guyana into the United States were set free last week after a New Brunswick Provincial Court judge ruled that U.S. law enforcement officials apparently didn’t have their act together, according to a Canadian newspaper.

Charged in connection with the smuggling incident were John Wayne Richardson, 48, his son John Jason Richardson, 22, and Byron Lawson Murray, 57, all of St. Stephen. They could have faced up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

According to the St. Croix Courier Weekend newspaper of St. Stephen, the three defendants were charged in January 2007 with conspiring to break American law by allegedly attempting to smuggle two Guyanese nationals into the U.S.

A problem developed in the case when Canadian legal officials attempted to get a U.S. attorney to appear in court in St. Stephen to testify about the law in question.

The requests for the U.S. attorney to testify were made under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty between Canada and the U.S., which seeks "to improve the effectiveness of judicial assistance and to regularize and facilitate" procedures between the two countries, according to the U.S. State Department’s Web site.

Well, guess what? The U.S. Attorney's Office didn't provide a person to "regularize and facilitate" so the Provincial Court Judge dismissed the case.

Great! In return for all the time and resources spent on catching human smugglers, we get apparent ineptitude by the U.S. Attorney's Office and the smugglers (alleged) go free.

All is not lost, though, maybe something good will result. Senator Susan Collins has asked her staff to pound on some desks and get answers about why the U.S. Attorney failed to be responsive.

By the way, the Canadian-Guyanese smuggling operation has been linked to a ring of Guyanese girls going wild as prostitutes. I've read that they are very popular in Northeastern cities.

Also worth mentioning is that Byron Murray's wife, Savita Singh-Murray was convicted of human smuggling back in 2005 and sentenced to time served, 132 days.

Immigration among top social evils in UK

Immigration and responses to the phenomenon are among the 10 social evils afflicting British society, a survey released on Sunday by a major think-tank said. According to a survey by Joseph Rowntree Foundation, the British people feel a deep sense of unease about some of the changes shaping British society. The 10 social evils pointed out by the respondents were: individualism, greed, decline of community, decline of values, drugs and alcohol, poverty and inequality, decline of the family, immigration and responses to immigration, crime and violence and young people as victims or perpetrators.

On the social evil of immigration and responses to immigration, some participants felt that local residents lost out to immigrants in competition for scarce resources. Others criticised negative attitudes to, and lack of support for immigrants and thought society should be more tolerant and inclusive. Besides, it was felt that the British society had become more greedy and selfish, at a cost to its sense of community.

Respondents to the consultation carried out by the foundation said that Britons no longer shared a set of common values and that they had lost their 'moral compass'. The four social evils which emerged as the cause for most worry among the respondents were individualism, greed, decline of community and decline of values.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is one of the largest social policy research and development charities in the UK. It supports a research and development programme that seeks to understand the causes of social difficulties and explore ways of overcoming them.

"The number of Palestinians who support attacks against Israelis continues to rise and more than half of them favor suicide bombings, according to a poll published this weekend. The survey also showed that Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh is still more popular than Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The percentage of Palestinians who support "resistance operations" against Israeli targets rose from 43.1 percent in September 2006 to 49.5% at present. Support for this option was highest in the Gaza Strip, at 58.1%, with 24.5% in the West Bank agreeing. Palestinians who support bombing attacks against Israeli civilians rose from 44.8% in June 2006 to 48% in September 2006 and to 50.7% now. Again, more Gazans support these operations (65.1%), compared with 42.3% of Palestinians in the West Bank."

Two Brothers Drinking

(Lancashire, England) After spending the day imbibing in alcoholic beverages, Michael Garvin cooked for his brother, John, a traditional English shepherd's pie dinner.

John, however, voiced his disquiet that the pie was not topped with a layer of sliced tomatoes.

His brother, a chef, claimed a layer of tomatoes was not the appropriate way to finish off a shepherd’s pie, and responded by hitting him over the head with a shovel.

As the argument got out of control, John threatened to petrol bomb his brother’s flat and was arrested.

John was arrested and booked for breach of the peace. In court, District Judge Peter Ward ruled that John be "bound over to keep the peace for 12 months in the sum of £200."

Judge Ward mentioned that he agreed with Michael and saw no need for tomatoes either.

CNNer Caught with Genitals Tied

I'm not even going to try and understand this story.

CNN personality Richard Quest was busted in Central Park early yesterday with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot, law-enforcement sources said.

Quest, 46, was arrested at around 3:40 a.m. after a cop spotted him and another man inside the park near 64th Street, a police source said.

The criminal complaint against Quest said the park was closed at the time - something Quest should have known because of all the signs saying "Park Closed 1 a.m. to 6 a.m."

Quest was initially busted for loitering, the source said. Aside from the oddly configured rope, the search also turned up a sex toy inside of his boot, and a small bag of methamphetamine in his left jacket pocket.

Maybe he was on assignment? Maybe it was research for a R & B song? I don't know, but his lawyer, Alan Abramson, said he was just returning to his hotel with friends.

Yeah, and the rest of the story is anyone's guess.

Jim Gilchrist Files Defamation Suits Against His Own

This report is disturbing. James Gilchrist, the founder of the anti-illegal alien Minuteman Project, has filed defamation lawsuits against 100 of the people he organized to stop illegals, claiming that they have said bad things about him and damaged his reputation.

The truth is that Gilchrist has acted contrary to the beliefs of most people in the Minuteman Project and he has been questioned about his apparent departure from the fold. For example, Gilchrist came out and endorsed Mike Huckabee for President when everyone can see that Huckabee's record is pro-illegal alien.

Naturally, border enforcement advocates were jolted and immediately asked Gilchrist what he was thinking. In response, Gilchrist sent emails dripping with hate and accusations of treason.

And now, the first few in a series of 100 summons have been sent out.

On April 16, 2008 the first of the summons for the lawsuits were received by Brook Young of Immigration Watchdog, Chelene Nightingale of Save Our State, Barbara Coe of CCIR, Minuteman Project Treasurer Deborah Courtney, and Minuteman Project President Marvin Stewart.

I suspect that Gilchrist was probably a charlatan all along, willing to grab hold of anything that might shoot a few bucks his way. From an ideological perspective, people don't make changes as radical as Gilchrist apparently has when they possess integrity and a firm ethical foundation - qualities absent in a shifty huckster.

Russia Downs Georgian Recon Plane

(Tbilisi, Georgia) A Russian fighter jet has reportedly shot down a Georgian pilotless reconnaissance drone. If true, this has to be considered just another way that Moscow demonstrates its dissatisfaction at Georgia's ambitions to join NATO.

"A Russian MiG-29 fighter jet shot down an unarmed, unmanned air vehicle which was performing basic reconnaissance over Georgian territory,” Colonel David Nairashvili, commander of Georgia’s air force, told Reuters.

"It’s absolutely illegal for a Russian MiG-29 to be there,” he said.

"The MiG-29 has a distinctive twin-tail marking. It’s a Russian aircraft. Georgia does not possess it, nor do Abkhaz separatists.”

In Washington, a State Department spokesman, Tom Casey, said the United States was concerned by reports of the incident and was seeking information from the Russian Government.

Abkhazia, on the Black Sea coast, is internationally recognised as part of Georgia. It has been controlled by Moscow-backed separatists since a war in the early 1990s.

A Russian Air Force spokesman said the accusation is nonsense. Nevertheless, the video is quite persuasive.

Immigrants Anger Italians

(Rome, Italy) Due to a crime wave and other problems blamed on a flood of immigrants from Romania, the Italian citizenry is angry and calling for political action. As a result, the right-wing Northern League, led by charismatic Umberto Bossi, has grown to be the third-largest parliamentary party.

Indeed, as a thank you for its support, Prime Minister Berlusconi has already promised tough measures against crime, blamed by many Italians on illegal immigrants.

"One of the first things to do is to close the frontiers and set up more camps to identify foreign citizens who don't have jobs and are forced into a life of crime," the 71-year-old conservative leader announced.

"Secondly we need more local police constituting an "army of good" in the piazzas and streets to come between Italian people and the army of evil." Inflammatory language indeed.

The Italian leftists, of course, have their knickers in a twist since increased support for conservatives means dwindling support for communism and socialism.

There is also a strong sense that the river of immigrants, many of whom don't speak Italian, is threatening the indigenous character of Italy while burdening the government welfare roles. Native Italians are outraged and calling for solutions.

At Ardo, the mayor posted a bounty of £400 for anyone turning in an illegal immigrant.

And in Treviso, a League councillor told a session of the council: "With immigrants, we should use the same system the SS used, punishing 10 of them for every slight against one of our citizens."

Another mayor called for a ban on illegal immigrants marrying, another to ban them from being eligible for school scholarships, another to limit Italian citizenship to foreigners with a perfect knowledge of Italian.

When a politician seriously proposes using Nazi SS tactics, you know the controversy has reached a feverish level.

USAF Allergic to Pilotless Flight

The U.S. Air Force is sparring politically to keep manned flight programs at the forefront even while demands in Afghanistan and Iraq call for the use of drones.

Drones are quite successful in surveillance and reconnaissance missions but they negate the need for pilots. Consequently, the entire history and traditions of the USAF being about glamorous pilots at joysticks are under pressure to change. With drones, the joysticks are operated by technicians at distant locations -- not nearly as glamorous.

Frankly, I believe tactical needs should always be given precedence when American lives are at stake.

Praying passenger removed from SF-bound flight

We read:

""A passenger who left his seat to pray in the back of a plane before it took off, ignoring flight attendants' orders to return, was removed by an airport security guard, a witness and the airline said. The Orthodox Jewish man, who wore a full beard, a black hat and a long black coat, stood near the lavatories and began saying his prayers while the United Airlines jet was being boarded at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday night, fellow passenger Ori Brafman said.

When flight attendants urged the man, who was carrying a religious book, to take his seat, he ignored them, Brafman said. Two friends, who were seated, tried to tell the attendants that the man couldn't stop until his prayers were over in about 2 minutes, he said. Sounds like a bit of religious intolerance there. Even 2 minutes was too much to ask? I'm betting that it delayed the flight a hell of a lot longer than 2 minutes to take him off it. No brains at all. But brains seem to have flown out the window where air travel is concerned these days.

If he had been a Muslim he would have been treated with much more respect. But he clearly wasn't, of course. If you can't tell an Orthodox Jew in full garb, you don't know anything. And if you can tell one, you know he is harmless.

UC Santa Cruz Doper Day

(Santa Cruz, California) Heads up, everybody! UC Santa Cruz is on lockdown this weekend in anticipation of thousands of unmanageable students gathering for the "4/20 cannabis culture holiday."

The university sent emails to all the students indicating that it does not condone the event and reminding everyone that they might get a citation for smoking marijuana. Air pollution is not a concern since many of the dope smokers are also draft mules for the carbon-footprint bandwagon. Their smoke doesn't pollute.

Note, Virginia Slims and Marlboro smokers, the 4/20 gathering is a very promising opportunity to blend in with the dopers and illegally puff a butt. However, be cautious, the dopers may very well point in your direction if the anti-tobacco nazis show up.

And, lastly, be prepared to walk. City bus service on campus is suspended for the weekend also.

Saudis Lop Four

(Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) The Saudi Interior Ministry has announced the public executions by beheading of two Saudi soldiers and two Syrian drug traffickers.

Lopped for the abduction and rape of a 20-year-old expatriate woman were the heads of Abdul Rahman ibn Saeed Al-Zahrani and Abdul Rahman ibn Qassim Al-Feefi, both soldiers with the Ministry of Defense and Aviation.

Decapitated for "receiving an unspecified quantity of drugs" were Faras Faisal Al-Aghbar and Faras Hussein Maktabi.

Thus far, human rights advocates haven't remarked about the cruel nature of the public beheadings. To be fair, though, they could be drafting something right now for release later this week.

Prostitutes Service Migrant Farm Workers

(Cortland County, New York) Four area women were arrested this week in a sweep of a prostitution ring allegedly providing sex-for-pay services to migrant farm workers. The names of the alleged prostitutes are:

- Wendy L. Brewer, 19, of 10 James St., Auburn,

- Lisa M. Dennis, 20, of 4 Orchard St., Auburn,

- Amie L. Shaffer, 31, of 88 Clark St., Auburn,

- Shannon E. Terwilliger (no pic), 27, of 101 Main St., Port Byron.

The four have been charged with prostitution and promoting prostitution.

The investigation found that the women have been engaging in prostitution-related activities at several farms where migrant workers work and live, in at least four of the surrounding counties. The investigation is still ongoing with possible additional charges pending.

Shaffer, Brewer and Dennis were booked into custody at the Cortland County Jail without bail. Terwilliger is being held at the Cayuga County Jail.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that going out and swapping body fluids with a series of migrant workers just ratchets up the health risk level from dangerous to possibly deadly.

Since they regularly travel to many locations, migrant workers are subjected to a larger number of opportunities to acquire and transmit infections and diseases. Migrant workers likely also don't have their own primary care physicians. Consequently, the alleged prostitutes could be carrying just about anything.

Indiana Woman Jailed for Sex Assault

(New Castle, Indiana) A 34-year-old local woman, Sonia L. Perry, was arrested yesterday for allegedly holding a 12-year-old boy against his will and for sexually assaulting the 14-year-old brother.

Perry has been charged with criminal confinement, a Class C felony carring a four-year prison term, and sexual battery, a Class D felony with an 18-month sentence.

The charges stem from incidents last August when Perry was allegedly snot-slinging drunk. In one incident, she told the 12-year-old to sit for awhile in her bathroom and then her kitchen. Although it was described as confinement for only a few minutes, it was against the boy's will.

In the other incident, Perry scared the bejeezus out of the 12-year-old's 14-year-old brother by playing grabass, rubbing her breasts in his face, and threatening to take him to the bedroom for sex. Like I mentioned, she was reportedly hammered.

Perry was booked into the Henry County Jail with bond set at $10,000.

Hollywood Better Get Over Obama Quickly

Barack Obama has made no bones about it. He is going to eliminate the cap on payroll taxes to save the Social Security/Medicare programs. Those making over $97,000 a year will be hit with an additional 15.3% in payroll taxes for anything they make over $97,000.

Let's assume you are a $20 million a picture actor and you make two pictures a year. Obama is going to ask you for an additional $6,130,000 of new taxes over and above the $14,000,000 you pay at 35%. In other words he wants you to pay a 44% increase in your taxes to compensate for Congress's irresponsible use of the pay-as-you-go method of funding those programs over the years and promising more than they could afford - to be precise $45 trillion more and counting.. .

Now if you are a run-of-the-mill celebrity and only make an extra million above the $97,000 cap it is only going to cost you an extra $153,000 in new taxes over the $350,000 you pay to the IRS. Assuming you are a Hollywood liberal the price of being one has just gone up - thanks to your new liberal political idol.

The tragedy of such liberal philosophy is that raising taxes on the rich never makes the poor wealthy. Raising taxes on the rich will merely reduce the capital in the private sector used to keep the economy humming. Obama's raising the cap won't make the poor wealthy, it merely covers up the screw-ups of Congress and keeps massively inadequate retirement programs called Social Security and Medicare from being scrapped for better ones.

Tens of thousands of English patients could be registering with Welsh GPs and making day-trips to the country to obtain free prescriptions, it was claimed yesterday.

Statistics show that three million people are registered with Welsh GPs, about 100,000 more than the official population. Wales is the only part of Britain not to have prescription charges.

England has the highest at £7.10, followed by Northern Ireland at £6.85 and Scotland at £5.

The Conservative Party in Wales claimed that the figures pointed to patients from England travelling to Wales and called on the Welsh Assembly executive to stop "prescription tourism".

Darren Millar, a Tory member of the assembly, said: "It has long been my suspicion that prescription tourism is rife in my constituency. We must tackle it sooner rather than later." The Tories suspect that English people could be using the addresses of friends and relatives in Wales to register.

Billionaire owner Alexander Lebedev, a former KGB agent, pulled the plug on Moscow Korrespondent hours after the Russian president issued an angry denial of the report about former Olympic gymnast and nude model Alina Kabaeva, a member of parliament who is 31 years his junior.

Editor Grigoriy Nekhoroshev and deputy editor Igor Dudinsky asserted the story was well-sourced as they left the newspaper.

Craigslist Prostitution Sting

(Suffolk, Virginia) Five area women have been caught in an online prostitution sting, set up by an undercover officer seeking sex by querying Craigslist on the Internet.

Although the operation caught five women, only three have been charged thus far.

26-year-old Jennifer Ely (pictured) of Pleasant Run in Virginia Beach. She's been charged with prostitution and possession of cocaine.

31-year-old Jennifer Ann Blackwell of 12th Bay Street in Norfolk. She's been charged with prostitution and possession of marijuana.

Female Guard Gets Probation for Jail Sex - Updated

(Milwaukee, WI) Jail guard and married mother-of-four Cindy Bartoshevich, 31, was sentenced to probation yesterday for the repeated horn-clipping of a 21-year-old gangbanger accused of racketeering and drug charges.

Everyone in the courtroom was stymied.

"Why this guy?" Assistant District Attorney Douglas Simpson asked.

"She fell in love - lust - with a prisoner," ventured defense attorney Bridget E. Boyle.

"At no point did I ever imagine it would come to this," Bartoshevich said, plucking a tissue from the box beside her.

Well, boo-hoo! I've no sympathy for a mother-of-four children displaying total irresponsibility. In conjunction with six months of jailhouse fluid swaps with inmate Michael Carroll, Bartoshevich also engaged in and paid for 5,600 minutes ($1,200) of phone calls with him.

After pleading no contest to misconduct in office, Bartoshevich was sentenced by Milwaukee Circuit Judge Dennis P. Moroney to three years probation, $1,000 fine plus court costs and 100 hours community service. Michael Carroll, on the other hand, pleaded guilty to a federal racketeering charge and awaits sentencing. (H/T Lloyd D.)

(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) A 31-year-old guard at the Milwaukee County Jail, Cindy A. Bartoshevich, faces termination of employment for allegedly engaging in hot slammer sex with an inmate.

According to papers filed today, Bartoshevich's jailhouse lover is a confessed murderer and Latin King gang member, Michael Carroll, 21.

Bartoshevich acknowledged "inappropriate contact" but denied "any sexual interaction," the file says, but it adds that letters from her to Carroll corroborate his version.

What she told investigators, according to the filing: the inmate tried to kiss her, tripped her, grabbed her and put his hand down her pants, but she didn't tell any other guards or supervisors.

Also in the filing seeking Bartoshevich's termination: she confessed that she used a fake name ("Penny Berlin") to mail him letters, received them at a post office box, and sent him $100 in money orders and cashier's checks.

The actual amount is $700, the termination papers say.

No timeframe is specified for the alleged guard-inmate sexual encounter, except that it began after Carroll was brought into jail on a 2005 murder charge. According to the complaint from the murder case in which he pleaded guilty, Carroll confessed to being the wheelman in a drive-by shooting that used a gun from "the almighty Latin King nation."

Bartoshevich was arrested and released. Carroll awaits prosecution on a butt-load of charges.

Word has it that radical peace (?) groups are planning to create monumental tumult during the August Democrat National Convention in Denver.

The goal is a media-frenzied series of public disturbances similar to the disorder which occurred in the 1968 Chicago Democrat Convention. However, the current plan is more extreme. They plan to throw bags of urine and blood on cops at the DNC protests. Pretty disgusting, eh?

Under the name ReCreate 68 and led by Ward Churchill supporter, Glenn Spagnuolo, the group wants to choreograph the actions of various anti-American, anti-capitalist and socialist throngs such as Code Pink, Food Not Bombs, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Green Peace, Scholars for Peace and Justice, and other radical festerings.

ReCreate 68, recreate68.org, bills itself as the place for grassroots people who have been sold out by the Democrats. Members meet every Thursday at the Gypsy House Cafe in Denver.

Law enforcement and area hospitals have been given a heads up to prepare for violence, terrorism and possible mass riots.

Another Leftist mind-reader

There is a fevered article in the LA Times by a David Shipler which makes great efforts to "reinterpret" things that whites say about Obama. It is like so much other Leftist drivel that I was not initially going to comment on it. I see, however, that Taranto thought it interesting enough to comment on so I thought I might take a few moments to point out the glaring weakness in Shipler's thinking. Take the following excerpt:

"But when his opponents branded him an elitist and an outsider, his race made it easier to drive a wedge between him and the white, rural voters he has courted. As an African American, he was supposedly looking down from a place he didn't belong and looking in from a distance he could not cross. This could not happen as dramatically were it not for embedded racial attitudes. "Elitist" is another word for "arrogant," which is another word for "uppity," that old calumny applied to blacks who stood up for themselves.

What evidence does he offer for any of those assertions? None. Leftists don't need evidence. They are just high and mighty beings who KNOW, without any evidence being needed. He implies that when whites say "elitist" in describing Obama they really mean "uppity", an old Southern Democrat term of criticism for self-confident blacks.

How does he know what goes on in other people's minds? There is only one way he can even hope to know and that is via introspection. He can use his own thoughts and feelings as a model for what others think and feel. And the inference from that is that HE is the one who sees Obama as "uppity". And he is, of course, in harmony with millions of his Democrat predecessors in thinking that sort of thing about blacks. In short, what Shipler says is mere unsubstantiated abuse that reveals more about himself than anything else.

This tendency of Leftists to make Lordly and abusive pronouncements with absolutely no backing evidence is one I almost invariably find in emails that I get from Leftists. They seem to think that because they say a thing is so then I must accept that it is so. I must confess that I do to an extent use their own tactics back on them sometimes. I don't dignify their emails with an argument about the facts. I just answer abuse with abuse. And even then what I say to them is milder than what they say to me. In answer to an abusive email, I might say: "You sure sound full of hate. Get help!" I gather that few conservatives reply that way because it sure rattles the Leftists concerned. They usually reply with either a denial or further abuse. But I keep up pointing out how what they say suggests mental defects of various sorts and they quite often get so upset that they ban my email address so that they cannot receive any further replies from me. What fun!

Stripper Pinched for Beating Stepfather

(Zephyrhills, Florida) A 21-year-old stripper, Nicole Ariane Novak, was arrested this week for allegedly beating her 72-year-old stepfather after he found crack cocaine in her possession.

When the stepfather tried to take the drugs from Novak, she allegedly hit his hand several times, injuring his thumb and skin between his index and middle fingers.

Novak admitted to deputies that she had used crack cocaine earlier in the day and had hit her stepfather, but she claimed the injuries to his hand were accidental.

Novak was charged with battery of a senior citizen. It's not known why she wasn't charged with possession of crack cocaine.

Job Cuts on Fewer Chopper Sales

(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) Motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson announced today that it will cut 730 jobs, about eight percent of its workforce.

Chief Executive Jim Ziemer said he hoped employees would take retirement packages.

He says there will be 370 union production jobs cut in the next few months. That’s because the company is reducing bike shipments because of sales declines in the weakening U.S. economy. Ziemer says 80 percent of those cuts will be in York [PA].

Harley also has plants in Kansas City and Wisconsin. Ziemer says it’s not clear how many jobs will be lost in those places.

Harley’s also cutting 360 nonproduction jobs, and Ziemer says many of those will be at headquarters in Milwaukee.

Harley-Davidson, stock symbol HOG, will sell 27,000 fewer bikes this year than last.

Therefore, poor sales will cause a few hundred workers in Pennsylvania to be bitter about losing their jobs and to grab their guns and Bibles for comfort. What the laid-off workers in Kansas City and Wisconsin plan on doing about their bitterness has not been declared.

Race-Targeted Abortions

Dr. Alveda King, niece of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., has called for an end to more than $300 million in yearly federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

Last year, The Advocate, a student publication at the University of California - Los Angeles, placed phone calls to Planned Parenthood offices around the country offering to make donations specifically to subsidize the abortion of black babies.

The publication then posted videos on YouTube using audio recordings of calls on which Planned Parenthood officials agreed to accept race-targeted donations. Planned Parenthood officials issued an apology, stating it was not their policy to accept race-targeted donations for abortions.

In March, the National Black Pro-Life Union sent letters to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, NAACP, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Congressional Black Caucus and Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.).

The letters call on these groups and Fattah to support the termination of federal funding of Planned Parenthood, which currently exceeds $300 million a year.

Reportedly, none of the addressees have responded to the letters. Dr. King says they need to respond and support defunding Planned Parenthood. "It's black genocide," she says.

For what it's worth, Dr. King, I support an end to taxpayer-funded abortions.

Former Playboy centerfold Jenny McCarthy has launched a public campaign against childhood vaccinations, blaming them as the cause of her son's autism.

However, the medical community doesn't agree with McCarthy's assertions. In fact, medical professionals strongly encourage childhood vaccinations for protection from contagious diseases.

I suspect that McCarthy has not done her homework on the subject nor has she any desire to. She's out to make a public splash with her good intentions and, consistent with her liberal mindset, her good intentions are more important than any results.

Indian Virgin For Sale

Ominously, the Bedia secrecy has stalled government efforts to collect data regarding the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among the tribe's estimated 3,000 members.

Arkansas Momma and Teen Boy

(West Memphis, Arkansas) A 31-year-old recently-divorced mom and former daycare center worker, April Pipkin, has been charged with engaging in sex with a male teen and police believe there may be more victims.

Pipkin has been charged with 4th-degree sexual assault, indicating the victim is less than 16 years old.

If convicted, Pipkin faces a possible six years in jail, a $10,000 fine and registration as a sex offender.

(Commerce Township, Michigan) A 27-year-old angry cross-dresser, Jeremy Paul McIntosh, wearing makeup, blue Capri pants, red flip flops, a flowery blouse and a matching bra, crashed his vehicle into a lingerie store seven times Saturday night because he was angry that the store refused to hire him.

McIntosh was arrested for commission of a felony with a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property over $1,000 and reckless driving.

He told police officers that he was homeless and wanted to go to jail. They obliged.

McIntosh is still in custody and his Geo Tracker is totaled.

Female Counselor and Mentally Ill Client

(Everett, Washington) A licensed mental health counselor, Carli R. Brown, has been suspended for engaging in a sexual relationship with a Haven House client. Haven House boards young adults, typically 18 to 24 years old.

Brown allegedly admitted having sex with the client in her home at least three times, according to state investigators. She is accused of touching or fondling the client in a sexual manner, and writing the client letters in which she described her deep emotional attachment to the patient and "suggested the possibility of having children" with the client.

Brown's duties included providing general support for clients at the boarding home, such as assisting with meals and housekeeping, according to Tom Sebastian, Compass Health's chief executive.

Employees licensed to work as registered counselors do not provide psychological counseling to clients, he said.

The state's professional disciplinary board found Brown's actions to be an abuse of "a position of trust and violation of the patient/practitioner boundaries."

Brown can appeal her suspension.

OK for Obamanuts to use the "N-word"

We see an example of it on Daily Kos, no less. Kos himself did not write it but he has left it up -- despite some objections, apparently.

The writer is John Cole, a West Virginia University communications instructor. The gloss he puts on his post is that he is portraying how Republicans really think. Wonderful mind-readers, these Leftists! They just externalize their own thinking, as far as I can see.

ANY mention of the word is however generally taken as offensive these days (unless spoken by blacks) and there was no need to use it. He could have written "n*gger", for instance, as I might have done under similar circumstances. Though I have no doubt that even that usage is on the brink of becoming forbidden.

As a libertarian, I in fact don't think that use of ANY word should be forbidden. But if a word is to be forbidden, I think it should be forbidden to all -- not just forbidden to Christians and conservatives. After all, Leftists do believe in equality, don't they? So what gives them special privileges?

Prominent conservative blogger Don Surber is very critical of Kos over the matter.

Interestingly, it seems to be the same John Cole who brands himself as a hater -- though it is only a virulent hate of Hillary Clinton that he admits to. My suggestion that his "diagnosis" of what Republicans think is just a projection of what he himself thinks would seem to gain some weight from that.

Update: I note that the Kos article was written by a J. Thomas Cronin. I had some information that that was a pseudonym and that the author was Cole but Cole has now challenged that. The matter is only of ephemeral importance so I do not have time at this stage to follow that up.

(Hillsboro, Missouri) Teresa Engelbach, now 22, pleaded guilty before Jefferson County Circuit Judge M. Edward Williams last week (2/29/08) to reduced charges of felony rape and misdemeanor sexual misconduct involving a 14-year-old male student.

Engelbach faces a possible seven years in prison and a $5,000 fine on the rape charge. For the sexual misconduct, she's looking at six months in jail and a $500 fine.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 15.

(Jefferson County, Missouri) In March 2007, a 21-year-old substitute teacher at Senn-Thomas Middle School in Herculaneum, Teresa Engelbach, was charged with rape for allegedly having sexual relations with a 14-year-old male student. Engelbach faces three counts of statutory rape and one count of statutory sodomy.

No incidents of the alleged sex are believed to have occurred on school grounds nor are any other students believed involved.

In the latest development in the case, Engelbach has pleaded not guilty to the charges. It's reported that the prosecution and defense attorneys are working toward a plea deal.

Delaware Woman and Boy

(Smyrna, Delaware) A 26-year-old Hartly woman, Shannon N. Mitchell, was arrested last week for allegedly serving up the shaky pudding to a 16-year-old boy.

The boy's mother alerted authorities to the alleged sexual contact occurring between December 2007, when the boy was 15, and January 2008.

Mitchell was charged with rape, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful sexual contact. Mitchell was booked and released on $42,500 bail.

Muslims Padlock Masseuses to Deter Prostitution

Be advised that massage parlor masseuses wearing padlocks are presumptive prostitutes.

MASSAGE parlours are asking their female masseuses to padlock their skirts and pants to make it clear that sex is not on offer.

But the move in an Indonesian town, has been opposed by the country's women's affairs minister, where massage parlours are often a front for prostitution.

TV footage and photos have shown several masseuses with small padlocks in the zip of their pants or skirts in recent days.

"The padlocking phenomena has been seen at various parlours and it is something we like," said Imam Suryono, the head of the town's public order authority.

Although prostitution is illegal, it has been generally unchecked in areas that cater to international visitors since local and regional authorities see them as cash cows.

Batu has been developing as a tourist destination for decades, meaning that permits for investors to build hotels, restaurants as well as entertainment centers have been issued for a long time. According to the procedures, permits for establishing such infrastructure start with recommendations from the lowest echelons of bureaucracy, including neighborhood chiefs, village heads, regencies and mayoralties.
The answer could lie in such establishment's alleged role as cash cows for administration officials involved in decision making, and members of certain organizations that reportedly conduct raids whenever the entertainment centers fail to provide them with a sufficient sum of money. Operation permits for entertainment centers are said to be costly and difficult to obtain.
That is why, if massage parlors are found to function as illicit prostitution houses, all levels of bureaucracy in Malang actually contribute to the transgression.

In any event, according to Meutia Hatta Swasono, the state Minister for Women's Empowerment, women should not be held solely accountable. Nevertheless, they are the ones being padlocked. And, of course it's symbolic because the idea of padlocking a skirt doesn't seem possible.

In summary, the morality police in a Muslim country will look the other way when there is enough money to be made from un-Islamic enterprises.

Foreigners allowed to be "homophobic"

What do you think would happen to a college student who sent the following email as a response to an email from his college homosexual club?

"If you f---ing fags send me something like that once again or contact me in any other way, I swear you won't be able to study at Sloan for some time because you will spend it at resuscitation department. If this is what you want, go ahead."

That would normally be the end of his college days at least, would it not? But not this time. He got let off with a slap on the wrist. Why? It appears that he comes from a country where homosexuality is still persecuted, like Russia or Jamaica. Nobody is saying exactly which country. Taranto has all the details that are so far available. My guess is a Caribbean country. People from there are mostly black and blacks have special privileges, of course.

Incidentally, I put "homophobic" in quotes because I DON'T believe that disapproval of homosexuality is a mental illness. A phobia is an irrational fear and, as far as I know, homosexuality tends in general to evoke disgust rather than fear of any kind. If it is seriously meant, the claim that people fear homosexuals is itself a delusion, I think. Another twist on that good old Leftist "projection", perhaps.

Teacher Crystal Wells Gets Prison - Updated, Bumped

As expected, 33-year-old Crystal Wells was sentenced today to six concurrent five-year terms in prison for unlawful sex with a male student.

(Mount Olivet, Kentucky) A 33-year-old former math teacher at Deming High School, Crystal Wells, surrendered to authorities yesterday to face charges resulting from an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student.

A Robertson County grand jury indicted Wells on six counts of third-degree rape.

Wells resigned her job as a math teacher at Deming High School in Robertson County on Nov. 13, two days after state police opened an investigation after being contacted by the boy's family.

Authorities said family members had found text messages on the boy's cell phone and felt they were indicative of a sexual relationship.

Wells had provided the boy with the cell phone, according to Kentucky State Police.

Superintendent Chuck Brown said Tuesday that Wells was suspended in September for five days without pay after sending more than 3,000 text messages to the boy during school hours.

Brown said local authorities suspected a sexual relationship between Wells and the student, but "there was no evidence of it at the time."

Jeez, you'd imagine that 3,000 text messages was evidence of something.

Wells was booked and released on $2,500 bond. A court appearance is scheduled for January 14th.

Crystal Wells accepts plea deal. Instead of six counts of rape, Wells pleaded guilty to reduced charges of six counts of unlawful transaction with a minor.

A formal sentencing date has been set for April 14, at 9 a.m.; if the agreed plea sentence is imposed, Wells could spend five years in jail on each count, to run concurrent for a total of five years, court officials said.

Wells is free on $10,000 bond until sentencing.

Cannibal Dies in Prison

(Powell County, Montana) A convicted sex offender, Nathaniel Bar-Jonah, in his sixth-year of a 130-year sentence for molesting and eating a neighbor boy, was found dead yesterday in his cell at the Montana State Prison. He was 51.

Born David P. Brown, Bar-Jonah changed his name to supposedly feel the persecution of being treated like a Jew. I guess the rejection from being a murdering pervert wasn't enough for him.

Bar-Jonah was never tried on a separate cannibalism charge. But authorities in Montana had said they had evidence he murdered, butchered, and cooked 10-year Zachary Ramsey in 1996, serving his remains in meals to his neighbors without telling them. Those charges were dropped in 2002 when Ramsey's mother, Rachel Howard, who had expressed misgivings about the death penalty, told prosecutors that she was prepared to testify that her son was alive. His remains were never found.

Though Bar-Jonah's worst crimes occurred in Montana, he drew national attention to Massachusetts because he had been allowed to move out of state in 1991, even though he had been accused of several crimes against children.

In 1977, Bar-Jonah, dressed as a police officer, kidnapped two boys as they left a movie theater in Shrewsbury. He tried to assault them, but one escaped and found help. The former Dudley man served 12 years in the Massachusetts Treatment Center for the Sexually Dangerous in Bridgewater. [ ... ]

Forty-three days after his 1991 release, he was charged with assaulting another Massachusetts boy. A judge released him on the condition that he move in with his mother in Montana.

Naturally, as with any pedophile, Bar-Jonah continued to prey on children in Montana despite any consequences.

According to the warden of the prison, Mike Mahoney, Bar-Jonah was found unresponsive in his cell sometime after 6 AM Sunday and was pronounced dead at 7:06 AM at the Powell County Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled to determine if it was something he ate.

The way I figure it, the state of Montana owes the state of Massachusetts at least one homicidal child sex predator.

Chinese Expats Conflicted on Tibet

Of course, Chinese expatriates advocate for human rights and they would like to see the communist government be less oppressive and violent toward Tibet. But they are also opposed to any type of Olympic boycott.

The expat ambiguity is characterized well by Victor Wong, the executive director of the Chinese Canadian National Council in Toronto.

"It's like me and my mom. I can complain about my mom's cooking, but if a friend comes to my house and complains about her being a bad cook, I'm going to be all over (him)."

Therefore, a sense of Chinese national pride trumps the feelings of disgust at communist human rights policies.

The Royal Navy, once the scourge of brigands on the high seas, has been told by the Foreign Office not to detain pirates because doing so may breach their human rights. Warships patrolling pirate-infested waters, such as those off Somalia, have been warned that there is also a risk that captured pirates could claim asylum in Britain. The Foreign Office has advised that pirates sent back to Somalia could have their human rights breached because, under Islamic law, they face beheading for murder or having a hand chopped off for theft.....

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "There are issues about human rights and what might happen in these circumstances. The main thing is to ensure any incident is resolved peacefully." The guidance is the latest blow to the robust image of the navy. Last year 15 of its sailors were taken prisoner by the Iranians and publicly humiliated. In the 19th century, British warships largely eradicated piracy when they policed the oceans. The death penalty for piracy on the high seas remained on the statute books until 1998. Modern piracy ranges from maritime mugging to stealing from merchant ships with the crew held at gunpoint.

Youngsters and Sex

(Moultrie, Georgia) A nine-year-old boy has been accused of molesting a six-year-old girl. The girl's guardian learned of the alleged molestation after the girl complained of "pain to her private area."

The victim was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for an evaluation, and the incident was turned over to an investigator. The boy was then placed under arrest and charged.

Holy moly! The boy is only nine years old.

Woman Caught Nasty in Pics with Young Boy

(Gonzales, Louisiana) A 19-year-old local woman, Megan N. Partin, was arrested last month on a marijuana possession charge which was confirmed by images on her cell phone.

Subsequently, police officers also discovered images of child sex abuse, referred to as "explicit videos," on her phone. As a result, Partin was arrested on sex crimes charges involving a boy under seven years old.

According to Gonzales Police Chief Bill Landry, Partin faces charges of possession of child pornography, indecent behavior with a juvenile, two counts of molestation of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The police chief said the State Office of Child Protection was notified and asked to investigate the case. Additionally, Landry said, the Ascension Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation to determine whether other arrests outside the city limits would be made.

Partin was booked into custody at the Ascension Parish Jail. No bond has been set as yet.

Islamophobia is a disease?

The article below from the Middle East Times says it is. And Islamophobia may well be a mental illness. But first you have to find some Islamophobics. A phobia is an irrational fear. Fears about Islam are perfectly rational. Those crashing planes on 9/11 were not imaginary and they were all controlled by Muslims who justified their actions in the name of Islam. Many Muslims in Muslim countries are constantly shouting hate at the West and attacking Westerners and Christians wherever they can. To fear Muslims is perfectly reasonable.

"The question that seems to bother many Americans is not so much if Senator Obama is a Muslim or not, rather, the issue is centered more on a question stemming from a disease which has been plaguing the United States ever since September 11, 2001. The disease is called Islamophobia. The symptoms consist of the false belief that everything relating to Islam is tied to terrorism.

Female Molester Gets 20 to 40 Years Prison - Bumped

Pennsylvania Woman Guilty of Raping Boys

(Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania) In November 2006, a 30-year-old woman, Christine Carver-Schlesser, was charged with raping two boys, ages 12 and 13, from January 2005 to July 2006.

The sex became known after one boy, the 12-year-old, was found to be molesting a four-year-old girl and he told police that he and his friend had been molested by Carver-Schlesser. The boy figured that if he got in trouble, Carver-Schlesser should also get in trouble "since she's doing the same thing to me."

Carver-Schlesser faced separate of counts of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and three total counts of corruption of minors.

Yesterday, a Luzerne County jury convicted Christine Carver-Schlesser, now 31, after two hours of deliberation. Carver-Schlesser was found guilty of two counts each of the rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and additional counts of corruption of minors.

Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael Conahan will sentence Carver-Schlesser in December. Assistant District Attorney Jenny Roberts will ask for 20 to 40 years behind bars.

After the verdict was read, Carver-Schlesser, who had been free on bail, was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

Sentencing now scheduled for February 2008. Meanwhile, Carver-Schlesser's husband, Joseph Schlesser, has announced that he told the boys to make up the rape story.
Joseph Schlesser said his wife, Christine Carver-Schlesser, never assaulted either of the boys.

But he and his family had the boys create the lies of rape to enact revenge on Carver-Schlesser for cheating and getting pregnant by another man, he said.

"I schooled them well on what to say," Schlesser said Monday. "We sat down and told those kids what to say and how to say it."

And Schlesser said witnesses and medical testing would support his claim. But no investigators have listened to him, he said.

Now, the 31-year-old Carver-Schlesser is awaiting sentencing on a list of charges. She faces years in prison.

But Assistant District Attorney Jenny Roberts, who prosecuted Carver-Schlesser, said there's no doubt Carver-Schlesser is guilty. Schlesser, the prosecutor said, keeps changing his story about his alleged setup.

"One hundred percent I stand by that conviction," Roberts said Monday.

Pennsylvania Woman Hickies Boy

(New Oxford, Pennsylvania) A 26-year-old local woman, Brenda Lua Manzo, has been charged with allegedly engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy. Sexual episodes allegedly occurred on several occasions in the summer of 2007.

Authorities were alerted by the boy's parents in September 2007.

The parents told police their son was staying out late in the evenings and they suspected he and Manzo could be having a sexual relationship when he came home with hickies on his neck, the documents show.

When police asked the boy, he said he met with Manzo over the past summer at South Mountain Fairgrounds. He also admitted to having sex with her at his house, in an orchard field, and at an Aspers home, according to documents.

The boy told police he knew Manzo was 25 at the time and that she knew he was 15, documents show.

Manzo was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault.

Charges were filed against Manzo on Feb. 26. In court on March 13, she waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

It sure seems that it took a long time to file charges.

Teacher Arrested for Underage Party House

(Georgetown County, South Carolina) A 39-year-old teacher at South Conway Elementary School, Gina Black, was arrested yesterday for allegedly setting up a vacation house for teenage partying during spring break.

Black has been charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors.

[S]everal staff members at Conway High School called the Sheriff's Office to report an incident they said happened over the school's spring break, said Neil Johnson, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

Johnson said three Conway High School students told staff that Black rented a beach house on Waccamaw Drive in Garden City Beach for a group of students and allowed them to use it and drink alcohol during the week of spring break - March 22 through March 29.

Three of those students, all 17, told the Sheriff's Office that they helped pay for the house and that Black knew they were drinking, Johnson said.

Black was booked into custody at the Georgetown County Detention Center and later released on $15,000 bail. She has been suspended from her job.

McCain update

McCain head-to-head with Obama: "Republican Sen. John McCain has erased Sen. Barack Obama's 10-point advantage in a head-to-head matchup, leaving him essentially tied with both Democratic candidates in an Associated Press-Ipsos national poll released Thursday. The survey showed the extended Democratic primary campaign creating divisions among supporters of Obama and rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and suggests a tight race for the presidency in November no matter which Democrat becomes the nominee. McCain is benefiting from a bounce since he clinched the GOP nomination a month ago. The four-term Arizona senator has moved up in matchups with each of the Democratic candidates, particularly Obama.

How to bring up McCain's age: "While bringing up John McCain's age, DNC Chair Howard Dean says the Dems won't bring up McCain's age. Dean says that the Dems' "ethical bar" is too high for them to do that, adding, "We don't have any Lee Atwaters or Karl Roves on our side." After Dean said the Dems wouldn't bring up McCain's age after bringing it up, a pollster for Obama who worked on a poll with the DNC was also interviewed and was asked if he agreed with Dean about bringing up McCain's age while promising not to bring it up because of the party's strict "ethics." Sen. Obama on LGBT Issues

In an interview this week, Sen. Barack Obama was questioned about his support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In response, he expressed his strong desire for "full equality" to all homosexuals.

In particular, after he is elected, President Obama will eliminate the "don't ask, don't tell" policy in the U.S. military and he will repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Also, Obama wants to give same-sex couples in the federal government the same health and pension benefits that married couples enjoy. He believes that changes in the federal employee benefit structure will provide impetus for changes in states throughout the nation.

"So I actually have been much more vocal on gay issues to general audiences than any other presidential candidate probably in history. What I probably haven't done as much as the press would like is to put out as many specialized interviews. But that has more to do with our focus on general press than it does on ... I promise you the African-American press says the same thing."

Senator Obama's remarks come off as honest and I get no sense that he's pandering for support. There's one caveat, though. I'm unconvinced by his denial of instituting a litmus test regarding attitudes on homosexuality for nominees to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

"I would never make this a litmus test for the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

Maybe I'm imagining things, but that assertion seems incomplete without a wink and a nudge.

In any event, Sen. Obama declares himself as a strong shaker and mover for homosexual interests.

My perception differs and I haven't seen any data that supports his contention. However, I find it quite interesting that Elton John, a man who rejected outright the entire global population of women when he selected a partner, would criticize anybody for not liking women.

Elton John is officially recognized as disliking women and, therefore, the last guy to be speaking out against misogyny.

Not only that but what about Elton John throwing the memory of Marilyn Monroe under the bus for the sake of Princess Diana in the lyrics to Candle in the Wind? Are women interchangeable to Elton John? And, is he going to throw Princess Diana's memory under the bus when he gets the opportunity to re-re-market his catchy tune?

Richard Warman used to work for the notorious Human Rights Commission, which runs the “kangaroo courts” who’ve charged Mark Steyn with “flagrant Islamophobia.”

Richard Warman has brought almost half these cases single-handledly, getting websites he doesn’t like shut down, and making tens of thousands of tax free dollars in “compensation” out of web site owners who can’t afford to fight back or don’t even realize they can.

The province of British Columbia had to pass a special law to stop Richard Warman from suing libraries because they carried books he didn’t approve of.

Richard Warman also wants to ban international websites he doesn’t like from being seen by Canadians.

The folks named in his new law suit are the very bloggers who have been most outspoken in their criticism of Warman’s methods…

…We can only fight this man’s attempt to silence conservative opinion if we have international support: both moral and financial.

This lawsuit will cost me at least $30,000 to fight.

Jessica Bowring - Repeat Molester Sentenced to Prison

(Skowhegan, Maine) Twenty-eight-year-old Jessica Bowring pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy and two counts of violating the conditions of her release.

The boy’s mother said the relationship between the older woman, who has five children, and her son has caused the boy's grades to suffer and damaged his relationships with family members.

Bowring was sentenced yesterday by Superior Court Justice Joseph Jabar to three years in prison. She must also serve two years probation after she is released.

(Skowhegan, Maine) In August 2005, 25-year-old Jessica Bowring was arrested for allegedly engaging sexual relations with a 13-year-old boy. Bowring was released on bail and ordered to not contact her victim. In September, Bowring violated the court order by contacting the victim.

In October 2005, Bowring was indicted by a Somerset County grand jury on three counts of gross sexual assault involving a boy under the age of 14. She was also indicted for tampering with a witness and terrorizing.

In January 2006, Bowring pleaded guilty to one count of gross sexual assault. Inexplicably, two counts of gross sexual assault plus tampering with a witness, terrorizing and two counts of violating condition of release were not adjudicated.

Later in January, Bowring was sentenced to 9 months in prison with four years, three months prison suspended. She was also ordered to serve three years probation and to register as a lifetime sex offender. All other charges against Bowring seemed to have vanished.

On Friday of this week, Bowring, now 27, was back in court to face new charges related to again having sexual relations with the same boy. Since her release from prison, Bowring allegedly has had sex with the boy at least twice and had contact with him on hundreds, possibly thousands, of occasions, often through text messaging. Bowring faces two counts of sexual abuse of a minor and six counts of violating conditions of her release.

District Court Judge Charles LaVerdiere ordered Bowring to be jailed with bail.

Given Bowring's history with the legal system, it's anyone guess what happens next.

Bowring was indicted by a Somerset County grand jury last week for having sex with the same boy.

According to an affidavit signed by James F. Ross, an investigator with the Somerset County District Attorney's Office, Bowring admitted to having sex with the boy on two consecutive weekends in February and March of 2007.

She kept in almost daily contact with the boy, using her cell phone and texting the boy.

According to the affidavit, a review of cell phone records indicates the boy and Bowring communicated over 7,000 times between Aug. 3 and Nov. 11 of 2007.

Bowring faces two counts of sexual abuse of a minor and eight counts of violating her conditions of release. Each is a felony.

Tammie Lee Reed Guilty - Again

(Grand Junction, Colorado) Former first-grade teacher and convicted druggie, Tammie Lee Reed, 42, has been found guilty again, this time for violating her probation and lying to a court official.

Reed, who also goes by the name Tammie Liberty Lee, has a storied rap sheet since first being arrested in October 2005 on drug charges.

Since her initial arrest, Reed has arguably been a textbook case of a person addicted to methamphetamine. Her behavior has resulted in a virtual shopping list of "suspected' felony offenses, including drug possession, check fraud, theft of an amount between $500 and $15,000, evidence tampering, introduction of contraband, obstructing a peace officer, and violating bail-bond conditions. However, the overwhelming majority of the charges Reed could have faced were dismissed.

In the latest development, a jury of 10 women and two men convicted Reed of lying to the court and violating bail-bond conditions.

Mesa County District Judge Brian Flynn said Reed can remain free on $47,500 bond until sentencing May 29. Flynn said Reed has complied with all conditions of her probation, including testing negative for drugs and appearing for all court hearings.
[As an aside, I'd suggest that Judge Flynn read Tammie Reed's entire file. It seems he may have been speaking of quite recent history regarding Reed's behavior. She has a record of failing drug tests and violating probation.]
She was arrested June 29 for lying to a judge, a probation officer and her former attorney after she received permission from Mesa County District Judge Thomas Deister to attend her 17-year-old estranged daughter’s wedding in Reno, Nev. Reed’s daughter testified that she never had plans to marry.

The court and prosecutor in Mesa County have demonstrated considerable leniency toward Reed, giving her chance after chance to get her life in order. So far, nothing seems to have worked. However, it's reported that she is ineligible for probation this time since she was on probation when she was last arrested. Okay. We'll see when she is sentenced.

To be quite honest, though, I wouldn't be surprised if Reed is arrested (again) between now and her sentencing on May 29. Hopefully not, but her track record is not good.

NC Woman Accused of Sex with Boy

(Cumberland County, North Carolina) A 22-year-old Stedman woman, Meagan Leigh Reynolds, has been arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

Reportedly, the sex occurred between June 16 and June 23, 2007, in the home of the victim's aunt.

Reynolds has been charged with six felony counts of statutory rape and statutory sex offense with a child, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and three counts crimes against nature.

Reynolds was booked into custody at the Cumberland County Detention Center with bond set at $51,000.

BBC now a laughing stock

The BBC's retreat from balance in their global cooling story is now being laughed at all over the place -- e.g. here and here. One lot of mockers even squeezed a brief comment about it out of the BBC -- in which the Beeb calls balance "ambiguous". And we can't tolerate ambiguity, can we? According to received wisdom among psychologists, intolerance of ambiguity is a sign of narrow-mindedness, bigotry and dogmatism -- so who am I to argue with that?

Does Bill Really Want Hillary for President?

Regarding the Hillary Clinton campaign, it's been said that the Clintons will "do anything" to get her elected. A variety of reasons are cited, not the least of which is a desire to preserve Bill Clinton's legacy. For me, that thought does not compute.

Follow me on this. For the past couple weeks, I've charted scenarios on a notepad, trying to figure out how Bill Clinton's legacy is improved or fortified by a Hillary Clinton presidency. I've found no examples thus far.

If President Hillary does something monumentally well, there will be the automatic tendency for the mainstream media and bloggers to research Bill Clinton's tenure and question why he didn't accomplish the same. And despite the issue, Bill Clinton's actions while president will be scrutinized and reported -- again. There may even be bold assertions that Hillary should have been president the first time, not Bill.

On the other hand, if President Hillary does something monumentally unwise, another automatic comparison of the spouses will emerge. Pundits will remark that Bill didn't make that mistake with analysis as to why. All the while, supporters will wonder why Bill didn't warn her. Aren't they talking? And, once again, Bill Clinton's time as president will be under a microscope.

Now, I contend that Bill Clinton's legacy is best left to history's nuance-crafters in dusty halls. That is, unless a preserved legacy includes constant reminders of "I did not have sex with" Monica Lewinsky, Sandy Berger's bulging pantleg, missile technology given to the Chinese, Army Rangers abandoned in Mogadishu, the definition of 'is' is, bimbo eruptions, attack on an aspirin factory, yada, yada, yada....

So, readers, if you can help me understand how Bill Clinton's legacy is anything but tarnished by a Hillary Clinton presidency, please leave a comment.

And, although there is no evidence of surrepitious activity, I find it interesting that the Hillary Clinton campaign has recently been plagued with several in-house screwups where her staff has not acted in her best interest. A deputy sheriff telling her a big fib, which she repeated, and a senior Hiilary staffer promoting trade policy, which she opposes, are current news. With all her purported experience, one might assume that she would run a tighter ship. Of course, she could just be unlucky.

But, then again, the Clintons will "do anything" to get elected and that would seem to include having complete control over their own luck -- good or bad.

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as Automatic Weapons Gunner for Naval Special Warfare Task Group Arabian Peninsula, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM on 29 September 2006.

As a member of a combined SEAL and Iraqi Army sniper overwatch element, tasked with providing early warning and stand-off protection from a rooftop in an insurgent-held sector of Ar Ramadi, Iraq, Petty Officer Monsoor distinguished himself by his exceptional bravery in the face of grave danger. In the early morning, insurgents prepared to execute a coordinated attack by reconnoitering the area around the element’s position. Element snipers thwarted the enemy’s initial attempt by eliminating two insurgents. The enemy continued to assault the element, engaging them with a rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire.

As enemy activity increased, Petty Officer Monsoor took position with his machine gun between two teammates on an outcropping of the roof. While the SEALs vigilantly watched for enemy activity, an insurgent threw a hand grenade from an unseen location, which bounced off Petty Officer Monsoor’s chest and landed in front of him. Although only he could have escaped the blast, Petty Officer Monsoor chose instead to protect his teammates. Instantly and without regard for his own safety, he threw himself onto the grenade to absorb the force of the explosion with his body, saving the lives of his two teammates.

By his undaunted courage, fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of certain death, Petty Officer Monsoor gallantly gave his life for his country, thereby reflecting great credit upon himself and upholding the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Debra Lafave's Sentence Reduced

(Tampa, Florida) I swear, former-teacher Debra Lafave is like kryptonite to the justice system's super powers.

To refresh memories, Lafave was tagged for mixing it up with a schoolboy and probation violations. The most she's been given is house arrest and today Judge J. Rogers Padgett cut the remaining time that Lafave must serve on house arrest from seven months to three and a half.

Apparently, it was reports of good behavior that prompted the judge to give 27-year-old Lafave a break.

Nevertheless, neither the victim's family nor the prosecutor is thrilled. There is a general belief that Lafave has been treated with pronounced leniency by the courts.

Naked Swedish Schoolteacher Scandal

(Kungsbacka, Sweden) According to news site GT.se, a male junior high school student has accused a female teacher of sending sexually explicit photos of herself to him. Swedish press laws prevent publishing the names of the teacher and student.

The photos, which depict the teacher in sexually provocative positions, have now been circulated to several students at a school in Kungsbacka outside of Gothenburg, landing the teacher at the centre of a school-wide sex scandal.

The woman denies accusations that she sent the photos to the student or that she was trying to seduce him, claiming that the boy could have easily downloaded the pictures himself.

However, she admitted that the student, who is less than half her age, had given her special attention in the past.

“Well, he is quite mature for his age and has showed an interest in my body,” the teacher said to GT.

“He’s made comments about [my body] and stood close to me during class in order to have physical contact.”

The woman also admits to conducting internet chats with the boy, but points out that she does so with many students.

The teacher had posted several nude pictures of herself on various adult websites a few years ago.

“It may have been a little careless, but I didn’t know any better back then,” she said.

The teacher has been placed on leave while school administrators try to get to the bottom of the exactly how the student came into possession of the comprising images.

Meanwhile, the teacher is contemplating filing a complaint against the boy because it's "unpleasant to be exposed like this."

Taxpayer-Funded Paid Friends Program

(Melbourne, Australia) Deakin University psychology professor Bob Cummins has researched the well-being of 2,000 Australians by examining eight areas, including relationships, health, age, income and standard of living.

From the results, Professor Cummins has launched the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index (AUWI) based upon quantitative and qualitative criteria, ranking each individual's well-being from low to high.

With the AUWI, Professor Cummins categorizes people based on his assessment of their well-being with an eye towards improving the ranking of those individuals with low scores by buying them some friends. Yes, you read that right.

"We could think much more about how ... public policy can develop a system of paid friends whose professional role is to provide an intimate relationship, a sharing relationship with other people," Prof Cummins said. [ ... ]

Prof Cummins said the "paid friends" program could be supported by government, with the person receiving the service paying a nominal fee.

Frankly, I have no idea how something like paid friends could work but I do believe that it's a mistake to have the government involved in determining if and when you are happy and deciding who your friends should be. It also seems outrageous to have taxpayer dollars used to buy somebody a friend.

Furthermore, I'm unable to distinguish between Prof. Cummins paid friends program and NY Gov. Spitzer's paid friends program. You know, the one that cost Spitzer his job. As I recall, though, Gov. Spitzer used his own money to buy a friend. It wasn't part of a taxpayer-funded program like Prof. Cummins suggests.

BBC CHANGES NEWS TO ACCOMMODATE CLIMATE ACTIVIST

I noted two days ago the way the BBC had changed a climate story to make it more congenial to Warmists. Various other bloggers noted the change and we now have some details of what happened behind the scenes. Jennifer Marohasy reports:

I have been emailed the following correspondence, purportedly between an activist, Jo Abbess, and BBC Environment reporter Roger Harrabin. It would appear that the result of the email exchange between the activist and the reporter was that the BBC changed its story. In particular instead of reporting the story as received from the World Meteorological Organisation, the BBC modified the story as demanded by the activist who was concerned that in its original form it supported 'the skeptics' correct observation that there has been no warming since 1998.

The correspondence concerned is at Jennifer's site. In it we see a Warmist who appears to represent some Warmist group emailing Roger Harrabin in progressively more intimidatory ways, accompanied by a number of false or unsubstantiated assertions about climate events. Harrabin initially stands up under the criticism but when the Warmist in effect threatens to get him flooded with abusive emails he suddenly backs down -- possibly after having consulted with his bosses at the BBC. American Thinker notes that the article was in fact watered down several times.

The whole thing is of course more testimony to the susceptibility of the BBC to Greenie pressure and will always encourage questions about any BBC stories that have reference to Green/Left ideology. The BBC have in effect blown any residual reputation for integrity that they may have had. The Greenies may in fact come to regret their actions in this matter. They have in effect blown the cover of one of their more reliable mouthpieces. ALL BBC stories will from now on be readily ridiculable. All BBC stories will henceforth be easily dismissed as the product of political pressure. If I were a Greenie, I would be pressing for immediate reinstatement of the original story.

South Korea's Anti-Americanism

When you hear that citizens of foreign countries hate America, you can bet it's what they are taught.

Check out this evidence by Robert Koehler of the Marmot's Hole. It's disturbing and arguably, although I would contend otherwise, steaming proof of what happens when leftists infest the media and the educational system.

A poll shows that 34 percent of first-year army cadets called the United States the main enemy of South Korea, a former superintendent of the Korea Military Academy (KMA) said.

That's one out of three who don't know who the enemy is. And these guys are the backbone of the South Korean military officer corps!

Sheesh!

If a lie is told often enough, people will buy it. And the South Korean education and journalism professions must be held responsible. Both professional fields are populated with utopians who want to change the world through socialism, despite what the history books say about the inherent flaws of Karl Marx's thinking.

And equally disturbing is the following. A recent poll of Koreans ages 16-25 found:

"... 65% said that if a war were to break out between North Korea and the United States, they would help North Korea.

That's two out of three fighting-age Koreans would support the enemy. Holy freakin' moly!

Now you could rationalize the results or generally criticize polling as inaccurate, but it is hard to dispute the overall message. America is bad, the enemy even, to a substantial segment of the South Korean population.

Odd, isn't it? Since if it were not for America, all of Korea would be harmoniously communist, populated with malnourished, grass-eating citizens trying to escape before they die.

Incidentally, the same indoctrination of useful idiots is occurring in the United States by the same purveyors of leftist ideology, the education establishment and the media. Thanks to the Internet, at least there's a chance to expose what is happening.

Teacher Accused of Rape - Updated

(Walters, Oklahoma) A 33-year-old former teacher at Geronimo High School, Regina McKay, has been charged with rape. The alleged victim was a 17-year-old who stated that McKay "offered to buy him cigarettes and alcohol if he would come to her home in Walters and have sex with her." He did.

McKay was booked and released on $2,000 bond. A court hearing is scheduled for January.

[Update 04/08/08]

(Cotton County, Oklahoma) Regina McKay pleaded no contest to second-degree rape and has been sentenced.

The Cotton County DA says McKay received a sentence of five years in prison, but she will serve only 30 days, and those will be on weekends.

McKay will be on probation for two years and must pay a $1,000 fine in addition to court costs. She will be required to register as a sex offender, and will be required to confirm her address every three months.

McKay will be permitted to be with children only when there is adult supervision, however she will be allowed to attend her children's school functions.

McKay must also surrender her Oklahoma Teacher's License and attend one year of counseling.

WV Teacher Pinched on Drug, Alcohol Charges

(Elk Garden, West Virginia) A 23-year-old physical education teacher at Elk Garden Primary School, Sarah Guthrie, was caught last week in her car with an underage girl in an area patrolled due to complaints of drug activity.

The vehicle was parked in a wooded area out of sight of the roadway in a spot that has been the subject of numerous past complaints for drug activity.

Occupants of the vehicle were Sarah Guthrie, 23, of Kitzmiller and a 17-year-old girl, also from Kitzmiller.

As they questioned the two occupants, the officers said they observed alcohol in the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed more alcohol and suspected marijuana on both the suspects.

They were taken into custody for drug and alcohol-related offenses, in addition to giving false information to the officers.

The girl was handed over to her parents. Guthrie was booked into custody at the Potomoc Highlands Regional Jail and later released on$2,000 bond.

Boy Scouts in Philadelphia Need Help

You may be aware that the Philadelphia City Council recently told the Boy Scouts to leave their local headquarters building in the city unless they can pay market rent or change their membership policies.

Even though the Scouts built the building 80 years ago and kept it up on city property deeded to them for $1 per year "in perpetuity," the Scouts will probably be moving out of their building on May 31.

The Pennsylvania primary election is on April 22. We’re asking Americans who support the Boy Scouts to sign a petition to the Pennsylvania media, calling on them to ask the candidates at local, state, and federal levels about the Boy Scouts.

From city councils to Congress and the presidency, our politicians can either affirm the Boy Scouts or they can side with the ACLU and other groups that are attacking the Scouts.

You can do what you like with the U.S. flag -- but not the Mexican flag

Veteran Sentenced For Desecrating Mexican Flag at UNM Campus:

"Last fall a student La Raza group flew the The Mexican Flag over the UNM campus for several days-- This symbolizes that a US territory has been taken over.

After complaining to campus officials who did nothing Air Force veteran Peter Lynch took the flag down and tore it up.

This week he was sentenced. US Air Force veteran Peter Lynch was found guilty and sentenced Tuesday for desecrating a Mexican Flag that was flying illegally over the University of New Mexico campus.

The flag belonged to the campus group "El Centro de la Raza" who accused Lynch of being a racist for taking down the flag.

Since "El Centro de la Raza" means "the Center of the Race", that they called Lynch a racist is about as hypocritical as you can get.

Lynch received a deferred six-month sentence on supervised probation. He also must perform 48 hours of community service, attend anger management, replace the flag and pay court and probation fees.

No doubt it was wrong to destroy someone else's property but he could have been ordered simply to replace it.

Charlton Heston Monument

I'd recommend that something big be named after Charlton Heston. Maybe an aircraft carrier? Or an airport? Or maybe his image carved into the rock face of a mountain?

Charlton Heston was larger than life and will continue to be so through his enduring movie portrayals. I'm thinking that it would be appropriate to have something more to remember this American hero.

Chavez Buys Russian Submarines

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez expects to sign a $1 billion contract next month for four brand-new Russian Kilo Class Type 636 submarines with $800 million financed by state-owned arms exporter Rosoboronexport.

The deal is expected to be finalized next month when Chavez goes to Moscow for Medvedev's inauguration.

Unlike nuke boats, the Kilos rely on diesel-electric power for propulsion so they must regularly operate on the surface or at snorkel-depth to run the diesels. Therefore, their operating capabilities are limited. Yet, they are sneaky bastards that could cause trouble by exploiting weaknesses. China operates two Type 636 submarines and Indonesia has two on order.

The Type 636 is advertised as one of the quietest diesel boats in the world. It has a maximum diving depth of 900 feet and attains speeds of 11 knots surfaced and 20 knots submerged. The submarine can be fitted with cruise missiles (range 220 km) and it has six 533 mm torpedo tubes in the bow.

With the bulk of Venezuela's oil revenue being used to make the South American country into a socialist utopia, Chavez lacks cash for outright purchases and must finance his arms deals. Moscow and Caracas are coordinating the $1 billion funding for the submarines plus $500 million for Ilyushin Il-76 cargo aircraft. Also being discussed are contracts for a dozen or so Sukhoi fighters.

Interesting, there is a hint of reluctance on the part of the Russians regarding the financing of arms purchases.

A source in the Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service said the lending of money to Indonesia for arms purchases had proven ineffective. He said Rosoboronexport could only finance arms manufacturing projects on Russian territory, and that Venezuela had to pay for personnel training, financing transport and insurance expenses and Rosoboronexport's commission fee.

So, even with his oil reserves, Chavez still has to qualify for a loan.

In any event, no reasoning has been disclosed as to why Venezuela needs submarines.

Brits Bend Law for Muslim Polygamy

(Glasgow, Scotland) A Muslim restaurant owner, Mohammed Anwar, was caught speeding at 64 MPH in a 30 MPH zone, an offense that customarily carries instant revocation of the driver's license.

However, in court last week, Anwar argued that he needed his driver's license in order to travel between his two wives to fulfill his matrimonial duties.

His lawyer told a Scottish court the Muslim restaurant owner has one wife in Motherwell and another in Glasgow - he is allowed up to four under his religion - and sleeps with them on alternate nights.

He also needed his driving licence to run his restaurant in Falkirk, Stirlingshire.

Sheriff John C. Morris of the Airdrie Sheriff Court was sympathetic and allowed him to keep his license and, thereby, officially certifying Anwar's status as a more equal citizen.

Effectively, the ruling links punishment for traffic violations to the number of wives an offender has. In the case of Anwar, the rules are bent because he has two wives. Just think, if he married a couple more women, he probably couldn't be prosecuted for a parking ticket.

By the way, since when is bigamy legal in Britain? I missed that ruling. Wait a minute! In a round about way, Britain legalized bigamy by recognizing more than one wife for welfare benefits. It skipped my mind.

Karate Teacher Gets 40 Years Prison

(Kissimmee, Florida) Bradley Knight, found guilty of sex with a 15-year-old girl, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after rejecting a plea deal for 30 years.

Blackwater Security License Renewed

Despite Blackwater Security being under investigation regarding civilian shootings in Baghdad last year, the State Department sees no reason not to renew the Blackwater license.

The State Department says it will renew Blackwater USA’s license to protect diplomats in Baghdad for one year, but a final decision about whether the private security company will keep the job is pending.

I imagine the anti-war crowd will do some hollerin' about this. On the other hand, they may not notice.

(Fort Pierce, Florida) Be advised that Smokin' Em Charters, known for its bikini-clad and topless crews, has been told to leave the Fort Pierce Marina for violating the family-friendly atmosphere.

BBC censors Harrabin

Roger Harrabin is one of the less ideological reporters for the BBC and he sometimes mentions things that call global warming into question. But that does not suit the British Bias Corporation of course. In this article, Harrabin mentioned recent global cooling. But when someone senior to him saw it, they were obviously not happy. The article was changed after it initially appeared.

I have a PDF of the article produced shortly after it was posted. I also have a PDF of what was up last time I checked. Let us compare the 3rd/4th sentences in each. In V1, they say:

'This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory. But experts say we are still clearly in a long-term warming trend - and they forecast a new record high temperature within five years.'

In V2 they say:

'But this year's temperature would still be way above the average - and we would soon exceed the record year of 1998 because of global warming induced by greenhouse gases.'

How low the BBC has sunk from the grand old days of Lord Reith when it could be relied on as a source of objective and unbiased information! The Left corrupt anything they get their hands on. As Orwell pointed out, they think that truth is what they declare it to be.

Gun Found in Classroom

(Santa Ana, California) A 51-year-old third-grade teacher at Diamond Elementary School, Jayne DeArmond, was arrested this week after an 8-year-old student found a .38 caliber handgun and ammunition in a drawer in her classroom.

DeArmond faces charges of felony possession of a firearm on a campus and misdemeanor child endangerment.

According to Angela Burrell, Santa Ana Unified School District spokeswoman, parents were notified and counseling has been made available. Authorities are investigating.

DeArmond was booked into custody and later released on $20,000 bond.

Ms. Burrell stated that DeArmond is no longer working on campus.

6-Year-Old Accused of Sexual Harassment

(Greenville County, South Carolina) A 6-year-old kindergarten student at Skyland Elementary School was sent home this week for the alleged sexual harassment of his teacher.

The boy allegedly said a teacher was "a hottie" and saying that a classmate of his liked looking at the teacher's butt ...

The boy's father, Pastor Malory Pinckney Sr. of Holy Ground Full Gospel Ministries, is angry.

"So, whoever looks at his record, they have already stereotyped him as being some kind of little pervert or something like that," the boy's father, Malory Pinkney, said. "I refuse to have that."

Okay, but one has to wonder where the kids picked up the terminology. Not only that but, as I recall my youth, kindergarteners back then had no solid conception of what sex was nor what attributes a "hottie" would possess.

Agreed, I'm an oldster and times have changed but it's still hard to accept that kids are well-versed in sex before they learn how to read, write and do arithmetic. Yet, it appears that's the case here.

Nevertheless, I'd contend that the teacher and the school administrators overreacted to the boy's alleged sexual remarks. The incident could have been handled much easier and likely much more effectively in-house, without paperwork. As it is, they have made themselves look foolish.

Lastly, since the brain trusts at Skyland Elementary decided to turn their politically correct posturing into media fodder, the least they could do is provide the name and photo of Miss Hottie Nicebuns to verify that the boy is a credible critic.

Charlton Heston 1924 - 2008

The renowned actor with a big baritone voice, Charlton Heston, has died at his Beverly Hills home. He was 83.

Heston had a stellar acting career, notably appearing as Moses, Michelangelo and Ben Hur among many portrayals over six decades in the movie business.

Heston was also a staunch defender of Second Amendment rights to gun ownership.

Heston answered his critics in a now-famous pose that mimicked Moses' parting of the Red Sea. But instead of a rod, Heston raised a flintlock over his head and challenged his detractors to pry the rifle "from my cold, dead hands."

Rest in peace.

San Francisco IS PAID! to Fight Border Crime?

How can that be? San Francisco is a sanctuary city. If anything, San Francisco should be paid by illegals for accommodating border crime.

San Francisco's $3.7 million federal grant to help fight border crime in 2006 was the largest awarded to any county in four states bordering Mexico, according to a federal audit that found the city was not entitled to any of the funds.

City officials have not explained why a city 500 miles from the state's southern border would have prosecuted more than 2,000 cases for the federal government that were related to drug gangs and crimes near the border in a three-year period.

So far, Mayor Gavin Newsom and DA Kamala Harris have not responded to the charges. Maybe their mouths are full of cookies they have been pilfering from the cookie jar.

The audit, which was released this week and challenged all $5.4 million that the city received from 2004 to 2006, raises questions about the basis for the city's request for funding under the Southwest Border Prosecution Initiative.

Federal officials who challenged San Francisco's grants were told that the city simply made an "estimate" of the number of cases it handled on behalf of the federal government, the audit found. In a footnote, the audit quoted city officials as saying that the grant requests were not based on "actual cases."

Federal officials also suggested in the audit that San Francisco's apparently inflated grant requests robbed other jurisdictions of money that was supposed to help them fight drugs and crime on the federal government's behalf.

Think of the audacity. San Franciscans sneer at America, the U.S. military, the laws passed by Congress and refuse to cooperate with the federal government in virtually every respect. Meanwhile, there is no keeping the city of San Francisco from tapping the U.S. Treasury for undeserved taxpayer dollars.

Girl, 16, Arrested for Giving Pot to Toddler

(Newark, Ohio) Angel Dailey, a 16-year-old Licking County girl and daughter of alleged drug dealer Don Dailey, was arrested this week for allegedly giving marijuana to a two-year-old which was reportedly documented on a videotape that was left in a recorder that subsequently pawned and noticed by employees.

Angel pleaded not guilty when arraigned yesterday in Juvenile Division of Licking County Common Pleas Court on counts of felony corrupting another with drugs and a count of misdemeanor child endangerment.

The child victim, who turned 2 years old Friday, was not the daughter of Angel Dailey, but according to the juvenile complaint, Angel Dailey along with her boyfriend Melvin L. Blevins, 18, "were living together and providing care for (the victim)."

Blevins was arrested about 7 p.m. Thursday by Pataskala police, but local charges were superceded because he will face at least one federal drug charge in connection with the Daileys, said Tony Marotta, agent-in-charge for Ohio for the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Blevins was transferred from the Licking County Justice Center into federal custody for allegedly distributing ecstasy, Marotta said. He faces a federal charge of possession with intent to distribute, he said.

Don Dailey and his brother Tim were collared by federal agents last month after a raid found they had over 2,000 pounds of marijuana and millions of dollars in cash at their homes in Harrison Township.

Angel, a high school junior, was booked into a juvenile facility in Lancaster.

So, to simplify, here we have a 16-year-old high school girl living with her 18-year-old boyfriend and taking care of somebody else's two-year-old daughter -- AND everybody is smoking dope. I strongly believe that this community is in serious need of adult supervision.

Florida Woman Pinched Again for Sex with Boy

(Sebring, Florida) A 33-year-old Avon Park woman, Elizabeth Yvonne Neel, was arrested this week for allegedly engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Interestingly, Neel was arrested last December for doing something similar with the same boy.

Neel's bondsman revoked her bond on the December arrest and she was being held Friday without bond at Highlands County Jail on both counts.

According to the arrest report, on Dec. 6, Highlands County sheriff's detectives conducted an investigation into allegations that Neel and the 15-year-old victim were having an ongoing sexual relationship.

She was arrested on Dec. 28 on the lewd lascivious sexual battery charge.

On April 3, investigators received information that a witness had seen the two once again engaged in sexual contact, kissing and groping each other between March 31 and April 2, according to the report.

The witness told investigators he and the victim had several conversations where he told the witness they were engaged again in an ongoing sexual relationship, the report stated.

It seems like a "witness" is keeping an eye on Neel.

Jeni Lee Dinkel Back in Jail - Updated

(Covington, Kentucky) In August 2007, Jeni Lee Dinkel, the 51-year-old Hollywood makeup artist and wife of former Cincinnati Bengals football player Tom Dinkel, was sentenced to a laughable 60 days in jail after being convicted of the rape of a 15-year-old boy.

After a delay, Dinkel started her sentence in October and, in December, she was released.

In the latest development, Jeni Lee Dinkel, now 52, was arrested yesterday for violating her probation. Dinkel apparently didn't complete her sex offender treatment.

Specifically, the court documents state Dinkel failed to accept responsibility for her crime and refused to take a polygraph test.

Currently in the Kenton County Jail, Dinkel has a court appearance scheduled for next week. [2/19/08 post]

Jeni Lee Dinkel was found guilty yesterday of violating her probation. Testimony during the proceedings included the following.

Dinkel sat and listened as the supervisor of her sex offender treatment program testified to statements that Dinkel made during one of their therapy sessions.

"I don't feel I raped anyone. I feel that I was raped. I welcome the gag order to be lifted so I can get on the stand and tell my side of the story. I deserve to be punished for giving the kids alcohol and nothing else," Debbie Hoyt, with the Department of Corrections, recalled Dinkel saying.

It’s that denial along with refusal to schedule a polygraph that landed Dinkel back before a judge for violating her probation.

Last year, she served 59 days in jail after being convicted of raping a 15-year-old boy who was her son’s friend.

The defense called Dinkel's therapist to the stand who testified that it’s not unusual for sex offenders to deny responsibility.

"The simple fact they do deflect responsibility is a positive sign, but then as a clinician you have to keep working towards molding that patient towards getting better," said Dr. Peter Ganshirt, Dinkel's therapist.

Holy moly! Have you ever heard a bigger crock of shinola? A convicted rapist says she didn't do it therefore she's getting better? WTF? I guess we should go to the prisons and asked who didn't do it and those claiming innocence should be let free. "Scamper off, inmates, you've been rehabilitated!"

Sheesh!

Nonetheless, apparently Judge Steve Bartlett buys into the line of hooey. He sentenced her to continue treatment.

Prison Educator Accused of Sex with Inmates

(Indiana County, Pennsylvania) A 37-year-old special education teacher at SCI Pine Grove Prison, Shannon R. Warsicki (aka Wasicki), has been accused of engaging in sexual acts with three inmates.

Warsicki faces charges of sexual assault, official oppression and exposing herself to an inmate.

Two inmates who served as tutors for Wasicki told investigators that she performed oral sex on them between 2004 and 2006, court papers show.

A third inmate alleged that Wasicki rubbed her buttocks against his pelvis and once directed him to expose himself to her in a closet in the back of her classroom. He also alleged that she bared her breasts and rubbed them while he was sitting in her classroom, according to court documents.

Warsicki was released on $10,000 unsecured bail. She has been suspended from her teaching position.

Irish Homosexuals in London

(UK) The University of Essex has been awarded a $160,000 grant to study Irish homosexuals in London. Can you freakin' believe it?

Roisin Ryan-Flood, the sociologist leading the project, says she wants to 'uncover the ways in which contemporary sexual citizenship, migration and LGBT imaginaries of the metropolis are mutually implicated in complex ways'.

Sexual citizenship? What the hell is that? It seems that the whole project is a waste of taxpayer funds and I'm not alone in that thinking.

But the decision to award the university the money has been met with frustration by the Taxpayers' Alliance.

A spokesman for the campaign group said: 'It sounds like it's come straight out of a political correctness joke book. I'm lost for words.'

Criticism of immigration is not racist says court

Abuse is the normal Leftist substitute for rational debate and the term "racist" has some very unpleasant connotations so Leftists use it a lot. They particularly apply it to anyone who has any criticisms of immigration.

Conservatives are so used to abuse from Leftists that they usually just let such criticisms pass. Perhaps they should not.

Someone recently was foolish enough to imply that a rich British rock singer (Morrissey) was a racist. Bad move! Out came the lawyers, an action for libel was launched and much grovelling has now been produced by order of the court. See here for details. No doubt the accuser bore significant legal costs too.

Sharia Punishment of Non-Muslims

(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) In a country where sharia law is imposed on the Muslim majority through morality police and sharia courts, a conflict exists regarding what to do about non-Muslims who commit moral offenses.

In particular, the offense of khalwat (close proximity) is being committed by non-Muslims without punishment. They can only be harrassed by the morality officers.

Khalwat is when non-muhrim (Muhrim = married or relative) persons of opposite gender are in isolation (behind closed doors) together.

It is a legal offence and MUSLIMS (including foreigners) can be charged in the Malaysian Syariah court. Might be punishable up to 6 months in prison.

Non-Muslims cannot be charged in the Malaysian Syariah court, but these religious department officers are allowed to disturb you and to check, if you are really not a Muslim...at 11PM in your hotel room ...

To resolve the inconsistency, a seminar on sharia law has proposed that non-Muslims be arrested and prosecuted in civil courts for committing khalwat.

However, there is opposition. According to the President of the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Taoism, Datuk A. Vaithilingam, the proposal is contrary to the Malaysian Constitution which specifies separation between civil and sharia courts.

Vaithilingam also said this was tantamount to depriving non-Muslims of their rights.

Federation of Taoist Associations Malaysia president Tan Bon Sin said in a statement it vehemently objected to the proposal, as it was an affront to the Taoist community's way of life.

"It is an implied way of imposing Syariah law on the non-Muslim communities in Malaysia," he said.

Malaysian Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan said in a statement that the proposal is tantamount to imposing Islamic law on non-Muslims.

So, there you go. Incremental sharia being imposed on non-Muslims, coming soon to a community near you.

Wisconsin Troubled Mom and Boy, 15

(West Bend, Wisconsin) A 31-year-old local mother, Jaime M. Foss, faces charges of bail jumping and sexual assaault of a 15-year-old boy. Foss allegedly had sex with the boy on at least three occasions in March and at least once when her children were in the house.

Foss was charged on March 20 with three counts of sexual assault of a child younger than 16. She was released on $500 bail and ordered to stay away from the boy.

On Wednesday of this week, Foss was arrested again, about one hour before she was due in court to face the sex assault charges. Foss was caught with the boy in her house by officers investigating an unrelated theft case.

West Bend police Lt. Jim Flitter said officers were investigating a theft case in which the boy was a suspect. When they went to West Bend West High School, where he is a student, they found he was truant and went to Foss' house after the boy's uncle said they might find him there, Flitter said.

Police went to the house about noon and found the boy. Foss arrived about 10 minutes later, Flitter said.

Foss told police that she knew the boy was at her house, and that they had been together for most of the day, Flitter said.

As of late Wednesday, Foss was in custody at the Washington County Jail. If convicted of the sexual assault charges, Foss could face up to 40 years in prison.

Yesterday, former child care worker Jaime Foss, 32, was arrested -- again -- for bail jumping.

West Bend police Sgt. Paul Pokorski says 32-year-old Jaimie Foss was arrested for allegedly continuing to have contact with the victim while free on bond. She already had a bail-jumping offense pending for a similar claim.

She was arrested Wednesday outside a courtroom after an appearance in the sex assault case.

Wow! If Foss keeps it up, the prosecutor will be forced to recommend punishment.

In Washington County Circuit Court yesterday, Jaime Foss, now 32 and claiming she is pregnant, pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under 16 and bail jumping.

Several other counts of bail jumping and one other count of sexual assault were dismissed as part of a plea arrangement.

The bail jumping counts related to continued contact with the victim, even after she was charged with sexual assault.

After Judge David Resheske accepted the pleas, a pre-sentencing evaluation was ordered. Sentencing is scheduled for December 1st.

American Airlines will test three meals that customers can purchase in April.

The airline will offer a breakfast for $5 on all flights three hours or longer and departing before 10 a.m. After that time, a snack will be sold for $4.

American also will sell a deli sandwich and a bag of potato chips for $10 on afternoon transcontinental flights and most flights to and from Hawaii.

I never thought much of airline food when it came with the price of a ticket. Having to fork over cash for it now doesn't increase its appeal.

Mom Takes 4-Month-Old to Armed Robbery

(Greenville County, South Carolina) Here's an odd case. A 20-year-old mother, Sarah Titi Walker, was arrested last week for her part in a fake kidnapping and armed robbery plot which included involvement of her four-month-old son.

The plot began with Walker entering a retail establishment with her son.

An unnamed co-defendant entered behind her and pointed a handgun at the clerk's head, while demanding money, according to warrants.

After the clerk handed over the money, the co-defendant "fake kidnapped" the woman and child, "so that they could make a speedy getaway," warrants allege.

The woman "returned to the crime scene minutes later and told numerous lies" to deputies, according to the warrant.

Deputies initially thought she was a victim, said Master Deputy Ashley Bethell. It wasn’t until Tuesday that she was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center, jail records show.

Walker faces charges of armed robbery, child endangerment, filing a false police report and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Woman Jailed for Long-Term Sex with Boy

(Tulare, California) A 44-year-old local woman, Carol Austin, was arrested this week for allegedly engaging in a three-year sexual relationship with a teen boy, starting at age 13.

Carol Austin was taken into custody on suspicion of lewd acts upon a child and unlawful sex with a minor.

According to the Tulare County Sheriff's Department, she is also being held on a charge of continuous sexual abuse upon a child.

Austin was booked into custody with bond set at $100,000.

Margaret Mead

Many readers here will probably be aware of the historical role played by Margaret Mead in the Leftist attack on sexual morality. Her influential book "Growing up in Samoa" paraded Mead's libertine ideology as anthropological fact.

I have made a few comments on the matter over the years and Prof. Hiram Caton has recently taken me to task over some of my comments. You can read the dialogue here. The dialogue is actually about Derek Freeman, the man principally responsible for exposing Mead's lies. Freeman had to be an unusual character to take on such an acclaimed figure as Mead was and Caton says that Freeman was a nut.

I suspect that Freeman simply had a strong ego but that the furious attacks that he sustained from the Left did unnerve him at times. But, as I initially pointed out to Caton, all that is ad hominem anyway.

NH Teacher Really Likes the Bottle

(Portsmouth, New Hampshire) Last year, special education teacher Holly Spreen was arrested for reckless conduct and child endangerment after being caught absolutely blitzed in public.

Onlookers saw her drop and drag her child and police ultimately tested her blood alcohol content at 0.49, over six times the legal limit.

In November 2007, Spreen pleaded guilty to charges of reckless conduct and simple assault in accordance with an agreement with the prosecution. In exchange, two charges of child endangerment and a charge of violating bail conditions were dropped. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail by Judge Sawako Gardner, to be served over summer vacation so it wouldn't interfere with her teaching.

Meanwhile, there are new developments in the life of Holly Spreen.

According to Portsmouth District Court documents, Holly Spreen, 35, was arrested by Kingston police on March 23, when her blood alcohol content was recorded at .33 and she told an officer she drank a bottle of wine "throughout the day."

At the time of her arrest, Spreen, a former Seabrook elementary school teacher, was court-ordered to abstain from all use of alcohol and to remain arrest-free.

Spreen was booked into custody this week with bond set by Judge Sharon DeVries at $5,000. A court appearance is scheduled for April 8th.

Ohio Woman, 48, Neighbor Boy, 14

(Highland County, Ohio) A 48-year-old local woman, Arlis May Guyer, was arrested on Monday for alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy.

The Highland County Sheriff's office was alerted to the situation by a complaint from a Paint Township neighbor. Guter faces one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a third- degree felony.

Guyer was scheduled to appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court for an arraignment Wednesday on the unlawful sexual conduct charge. She was being held until that time under a $10,000 cash or surety bond at the Highland County Justice Center.

Saturday, Guyer was arrested and charged with contribution to the delinquency of minor, a first-degree misdemeanor, for a separate incident involving the same victim.

Guyer was released on her own recognizance.

Interestingly, by my own recognizance I see Guyer as a bit too weathered to be having a 14-year-old sprout boyfriend.

Utah Teacher and Boy, Husband and Gun, Uh-Oh!

(Provo, Utah) A 32-year-old teacher at Mt. Nebo Junior High School, Jennifer Candida Gonzales, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in unlawful sexual contact with a 16-year-old boy.

Jennifer's disapproving husband, Richard, 31, was arrested for waving a gun around when he caught his wife cheating with the boy.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Jennifer Candida Gonzales contacted Payson police and told them her husband pointed a 9mm handgun at her and threatened to kill her after he caught her cheating on him with a 16-year-old boy. He also pointed his gun at the teen and told him to get out of the house, she told police.

Gonzales's husband, 31-year-old Richard Gonzales, admitted to the allegations, court documents said. The couple lives in Payson.

According to court documents, Richard Gonzales came home early from work and found his wife and the teen downstairs with candles and oils. He told police he saw the teen run into a bathroom while pulling his pants up. His wife, who was topless, pulled her pants up as well, he told police.

Jennifer was booked into custody at the Utah County Jail. She has been placed on paid leave from her teaching position.

Jennifer Candida Gonzales, 33, pleaded guilty this week to two felony counts of attempted forcible sexual abuse.

"She just wants to get it behind her," said Mike Esplin, Gonzales's defense attorney. "She's going to accept responsibility for her conduct and try to get on with her life, basically."

A sentencing hearing for Gonzales was scheduled for July 28. Attempted forcible sexual abuse carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.

Deputy county attorney Mariane O'Bryant said she will wait until she receives a pre-sentencing report from Adult Probation and Parole before making a decision on a sentence recommendation, but she doubts Gonzales will serve any prison time. Gonzales will have to register as a sex offender, O'Bryant said.

Her husband, Richard Gonzales, 32, still faces charges for waving a gun. Richard and Jennifer filed for divorce in May.

Whores and Democrats

(Troy, Michigan) Die-hard Democrats have to be muttering to themselves. The Gov. Spitzer scandal is still painfully fresh and now there's another Democrat opinion-maker in the news for the wrong reason, a prostitution sting near Big Beaver.

The co-founder and former CEO of the liberal-progressive Democracy Radio and husband of U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow was caught in February by a Troy police sting aimed at catching prostitutes, according to a police report.

Thomas L. Athans was stopped Feb. 26 by undercover officers investigating a possible prostitution ring in a room at the Residence Inn near Big Beaver and Interstate 75. Athans paid a 20-year-old prostitute $150 for sex in a Troy hotel but was not arrested, according to police reports obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by The Detroit News.

The police report said officers observed Athans enter a room under surveillance and leave 15 minutes later. Detectives followed and stopped Athans' silver 2002 Cadillac DeVille on Interstate 75 near Square Lake Road.

Athans told police he stopped at the hotel to see a female friend he met online. After calling her on his cell phone, he was given a room number and met the woman at the door. Once inside he placed $150 on a counter top. The woman collected the money and performed oral sex on him, Athans told police.

Officers entered the room and found sex toys, condoms, $431 in cash and a laptop computer. They arrested the woman, identified as Alycia Lorraine Martin, and charged her with prostitution.

To be fair, the title is misleading. I suspect that Republicans are just as susceptible to and guilty of sexual peccodilloes. Democrats are just unlucky enough to make the current round of headlines.

Autistic Schoolboy Tasered

(Indianapolis, Indiana) A 14-year-old autistic student reportedly became unruly at Creekside Middle School in suburban Indianapolis and police were called. Details of the incident have not been disclosed, however, it is known that the male student was tasered by an officer.

Although the police and the school have been silent on the incident, the student's father has spoken to the media, expressing grave concern about using a taser on school children. The father maintains that any of the boy's behavioral problems could easily be handled without using the disabling force of 50,000 volts.

Nevertheless, the incident has sparked debate about the appropriateness of using tasers on children, especially in a school setting.

My take? Tasers should only be used when they are perceived to provide the least violent achievable method available to resolve a disruptive situation involving a physical threat to someone's well-being. Got that? Least violent achievable method available!

And, unless the boy was threatening to harm himself, another student, a faculty member or an officer, the taser should probably not have been used.

Teacher Must Pay $15K for Washing Kid's Mouth Out with Soap

(Austin, Texas) A teacher at Sims Elementary School, Susan Miller-Smith, accused of washing a boy's mouth out with soap for his foul language, has been ordered by a jury to pay $15,000 damages in a civil suit.

Tony Lamaro Johnson and Juanita Johnson, grandparents of Tony Lamaro Johnson II, who is now 7, had sued Susan Miller-Smith, the boy's former teacher.

Miller-Smith was accused of putting soap in Lamaro's mouth on Feb. 23, 2006.

A Travis County grand jury later declined to charge Miller-Smith with a crime. She resigned from her job with the Austin Independent School District in March 2006, a district official said.

On Friday, a jury in state district court awarded $5,000 for pain and mental anguish and $10,000 for future mental anguish, the documents said.

Boy, they really taught the foul-mouthed youngster a lesson, eh?

Britain: Homosexual Books Pulled After Muslims Complain

(Bristol, England) Two books targeting 5-year-old children with the homosexual agenda have been removed after Muslim parents complained.

This is the same country that has Christians, Jews, Hindus and others regularly complaining about school curricula while achieving slower and less-satisfying results.

King and King -- Tango Makes Three

Two primary schools have withdrawn storybooks about same-sex relationships after objections from Muslim parents.

Up to 90 gathered at the schools to complain about the books which are aimed at pupils as young as five.

One story, titled King & King, is a fairytale about a prince who turns down three princesses before marrying one of their brothers.

Another named And Tango Makes Three features two male penguins who fall in love at a New York zoo.

Bristol City Council said the two schools had been using the books to ensure they complied with gay rights laws which came into force last April.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with having the books in school is a controversy worth discussing, however, it's hard to dispute the fact that Muslim complaints achieve rapid responses while complaints from Christians, Jews and others customarily receive less expeditious treatment.

A thief in Norway walked out of an aquarium carrying a crocodile named Taggen. A $5,000 reward has been offered for the return of the reptile. I'm guessing the thief will return the animal after using the line,

"Well, yes, my darling. I am happy to see you and, as a matter of fact, that is a crocodile in my pants."

[Update from Barry] "The crock has been delivered back to the zoo. The thief was a reptile enthusiast who thought he could care for the crock better than the zoo. He got cold feet because the theft got so much publicity. The crock is ok, and the zoo says the reptile thief's claims of mal-treatment are rediculous (sic)."

In Germany, Mr. Norbert Pohl complained of pain after minor surgery, only to find out that doctors had left two, let me reiterate -- Two!, 15-inch surgical clamps in his abdomen.

The clamps "rattled and shook like a chain saw, mincing his insides to pieces," said Mr Pohl's lawyer, who has launched a £100,000 damages claims against medical staff who carried out the operation.

The clamps were 15 inches long! Isn't that about the size of a lug wrench?

Kidnap Threat in Philippines

(Manila, Philippines) This warning is from the U.S. Embassy in Manila. It's not up yet on the State Department website.

The US embassy has warned that extremists could be plotting to kidnap Americans and other foreigners in a southern Philippine city where US counterterrorism troops are based.

The embassy said it has sent email alerts to all Americans living in the archipelago nation about the threat by “extremist elements” targeting the port city of Zamboanga.

More than 100,000 US citizens are known to be based in this former US colony.

“The US Embassy has received information that extremist elements may be planning to kidnap Americans or other foreigners at hotels or other public places in the Zamboanga City area,” the message posted Tuesday on its website said. No other details were disclosed.

"Extremist elements" are generally defined as Muslim Abu Sayyaf guerillas linked to al-Qaeda.

Teacher McCandless Gets Jail for Student Sex - Bumped

(Fort Collins, Colorado) The convicted sex offender, former Brighton Charter High School teacher, cheerleading coach and principal's wife, Carrie McCandless, 31, is back in jail.

She surrendered to officers at the Larimer County Detention Center last Friday and admitted to violating her probation by drinking and having unauthorized sexual contact with some guy, another parolee.

According to court records, a Weld County probation officer found McCandless in bed at the apartment of another parolee March 6. The other offender's name was not released, but Cooper said it was not McCandless' husband or a juvenile.

"Because of the underlying offense, part of the treatment is working through these kinds of things and being open about relationships," Cooper said.

McCandless signed a statement March 13 admitting the violations, which also include missing alcohol screenings and violating her curfew.

Sex offenders are widely considered most at risk for reoffending, which is why they are often placed on intensive supervision even when freed from prison or jail.

McCandless is living at home in Erie, and Weld County probation officers are monitoring her on Larimer County's behalf, Cooper said.

As part of the original plea agreement, McCandless pleaded guilty to misdemeanor unlawful sexual contact with a minor for fondling Tommy Clay while chaperoning a school-sponsored trip to Estes Park in October 2006.

McCandless appears to be quite McClueless when it comes to observing the rules of society, possibly a result of excessive randiness DNA. She will do 30 days in county lockup for this latest iteration with the justice system. What happens next is anyone's guess.

(Fort Collins, Colorado) The case of former Brighton Charter High School teacher, cheerleading coach and principal's wife, Carrie McCandless, has finally reached a conclusion.

To refresh memories, McCandless was originally accused in November 2006 of engaging in sex with a 17-year-old student. In December, she was charged with felony unlawful sexual conduct and released on bond. In January 2007, McCandless was rearrested for violating bond conditions. In April, McCandless pleaded guilty in accordance with a deal which downgraded the sex charges against her to misdemeanors.

Today, Larimer County Judge James Hiatt sentenced McCandless to 45 days in jail.

McCandless got the maximum sentence under an April deal with prosecutors in which she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of having unlawful sexual contact, a second misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a felony count of tampering with physical evidence. She will serve five years probation and be required to register as a sex offender.

In summary, McCandless was fired from her teaching position, must spend time in jail and must register as a sex offender. The status of her teaching credentials is unknown. Interestingly, her marriage to Chris McCandless, principal of Brighton Charter High School, has apparently endured.
