A former Walton teacher will serve six months in Delaware County Jail after she pleaded guilty to two charges of sex with her students.

Stephanie Fletcher, 29, accepted a plea bargain Thursday in Delaware County Court.

Fletcher was indicted on six charges, but pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual act, class E felonies -- one count for each underage student she had sex with.

As part of the deal, Fletcher will also serve 10 years of probation and must register as a sex offender, according to Otsego County Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Getman, who assisted in prosecuting the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 2, 2015.

New York Teacher Accused of Student Sex
[Previous 11/21/12 post]
(Oneonta, New York) A 28-year-old biology teacher at Walton High School, Stephanie Fletcher, has been accused of engaging in sex with underage students.

Fletcher faces charges of rape, criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child.
Officials with knowledge of the case told The Daily Star that at least one of the alleged illicit contacts with a student happened in the village of Walton, and another took place in the town of Tompkins.

However, it could not be determined if Fletcher had any alleged encounters with students on school grounds, as state police declined to discuss the case beyond what was outlined in a brief press release.

In that release, issued Monday afternoon, state police said: “The arrest is the result of an investigation into sexual relationships the defendant had with underage victims."
Fletcher was released on her own recognizance.
