Indians Ballplayer Shot

(From local Cleveland broadcast news) After beating the Kansas City Royals last night 5-2, someone fired a shot at the Cleveland Indians team bus as it traveled to the airport. Pitcher Kyle Denney ended up with a bullet in his calf. It was removed by team trainers and he was taken to the hospital. Another player, outfielder Ryan Ludwick, was grazed with the bullet. Both injured players should recover completely. Kansas City Police classified the incident as a random drive-by shooting.

They have some pretty nasty fans in KC.

[Update] Police say it's not clear that the bus was the intended target. Apparently, bullets fly all over Kansas City.

[Update 2] According to this report, Bart Swain, Indians Director of Media Relations, stated:
As part of a rookie hazing ritual, Denney was wearing a USC cheerleader's uniform when he was shot.

The outfit included high white boots.

"Our trainers said the boots may have saved Kyle from further injury," said Swain.
I sure that Kyle Denney is absolutely thrilled that this information was released to the media.

GO, TEAM, GO!
