Woman Pursues Boy on Web, Faces Sex Crime

(Cromwell, Connecticut) A 23-year-old woman from Massachusetts, Sarah Colby, traveled to Connecticut to engage in a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old boy she met through on the Internet. Ultimately, Colby was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

According to the affidavit, unsealed yesterday, the investigation by three Connecticut and one Massachusetts police departments found that Colby and the boy had exchanged nude photos prior to her going to Connecticut and renting a motel room for sex. The boy's mother exposed the nefarious behavior after noticing her son had a big hickey on his neck. Subsequently, she literally chased Colby down in her car and then alerted the police.

Cromwell Police Chief Anthony J. Salvatore indicated that Colby's actions were predatory in nature.

[Update 01/06/08]

Colby convicted and sentenced.
