Teacher Arrested for Stealing Student's Medicine

(Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania) A 30-year-old social studies teacher at Phillipsburg High School, Jennifer A. Ostile, was arrested last week for stealing drugs from the school nurse's office.
Two school nurses noticed April 18 that a student's bottle of Endocet was four pills short. The discrepancy turned up during a routine daily inventory of student medications.

Nurses told police Ostile came to their office Thursday to use her bottle of a gel for her neck. Nurse Martine Nielsen heard a filing cabinet open in the room Ostile was in.

When Nielsen looked in the office, she saw Ostile throw something to the floor. She told police, "It sounded like a prescription bottle."

Nielsen heard the filing cabinet open again before Ostile left the office. She and nurse Linda Frick went to the filing cabinet and found another pill missing from the student's Endocet bottle.

Police arrested Ostile that evening. She's charged with theft by unlawful taking and is accused of stealing one pill.
Ostile has been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of her case.
