Oswego Teacher Cleared - Updated

(Oswego, New York) Twenty-nine-year-old teacher Jennifer Dempsey has been cleared of all charges.
Upstate New York prosecutors say they are dismissing a child endangerment charge against a former high school Spanish teacher who was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old male student.

Oswego County District Attorney Donald Dodd says Jennifer Dempsey was cleared of any wrongdoing in the year-old case. Prosecutors say the charges were dismissed in the interest of justice, but won't elaborate.
Dempsey resigned her teaching position in March 2009.

Upstate Teacher Accused of Intimacy with Student
[Previous 3/27/08 post]
(Oswego, New York) A 28-year-old Spanish teacher at Oswego High School, Jennifer Dempsey, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an intimate relationship with a 16-year-old male student.

Dempsey has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Investigators described the relationship as ongoing.

It's reported that Dempsey was also a cheerleading coach, an advisor for several clubs and involved with prom activities.
Back in February, Jennifer Dempsey was suspended two weeks for allegedly having inappropriate communications with three or four students. The communications came in the form of text messages, emails, and hand-written notes.

When Dempsey came back to work, she received a letter of reprimand, had an agreement she would behave in the future, and had her salary reduced. Not long after returning to work, more allegations surfaced, which led to the charges we learned about Wednesday involving a 16-year-old boy.
Dempsey was booked into custody and later released. She has a court appearance scheduled for next week.
