Woman Accused of "Granny Dumping"

(Bradenton, Florida) A North Carolina woman, Beverly Edwards, has been accused of dumping her 96-year-old aunt, Ruth Smith, at a Salvation Army shelter in Bradenton as she and her family traveled to Disney World. Edwards claims that her aunt was forgetful and argumentative.
Ashley Butler of Aging Safely Inc. is now Ruth Smith's temporary legal guardian. Butler says it's one of the worst cases of "granny dumping" she's ever seen.

"I said, do you have any intentions of coming back for her? Oh no. After we finish at Disney World we're going home. We can't take care of her anymore, I'm done," Butler says.
No charges have been filed as Bradenton authorities continue to investigate.

I suggest that the Edwards children be on their best behavior or they might be dumped somewhere.
