Uniformed Cop in Porn Video Fired - Updated

(Los Angeles, California) The uniformed officer caught in a porn film has been fired.

Officer John Dancler has been discharged because of his role in the porn movie, which was available on a popular subscription website for adult movies.

Dancler, in full uniform, fondles the breasts of a porn actress and spanks her.

Another officer who appeared in the adult movie has been disciplined, but allowed to remain in his job.[…]

The other officer in the movie, Vaughn Dorsey, has been allowed to return to his job as a parking enforcement officer in the Valley Division after being disciplined, according to multiple sources in the department.

Officer Dancler is appealing his termination to the LA City Service Commission.

Inquiring minds want to know. Did the porn actress get a ticket from the traffic cops?

Regarding the officers, however, they were as a minimum in violation of the rules of conduct which specify penalties for actions reflecting unfavorably on the city. The officers likely will get an official reprimand and a short suspension.

In any event, the penalties for the traffic cops will be significantly less than those imposed on the female high school teacher, Tericka Dye, who was discovered to be a celebrated porn star. Her teaching career essentially ended.

More evidence that high IQ is just one aspect of general biological good functioning

Since the studies by Terman & Oden in the 1920s it has been known that, although not all high IQ people are healthy, most are. They have fewer health problems and live longer. And IQ is the main determinant of educational success, so the findings below are as expected. Kids born with indications of poor health have lower IQs so do less well at school

A health test given to babies minutes after they are born could reveal how well they will do in secondary school, it has been claimed. A study of 877,000 Swedish teenagers compared school exam results with their Apgar scores after birth.

The Apgar is a test which rates the newborn's health on a scale of one to ten and how much medical attention the child needs.

Researchers found a link between an Apgar score of below seven and lower intelligence in later life.

Dr. Andrea Stuart, an obstetrician at Central Hospital in Helsingborg, Sweden, told Msnbc: 'It is not the Apgar score in itself that leads to lower cognitive abilities. 'It is the reasons leading to a low Apgar score (including asphyxiation, preterm delivery, maternal drug use, infections) that might have an impact on future brain function.'

The study appears in next month's issue of the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology.

The Apgar test is given between one and five minutes after birth. It evaluates an infant's heart rate, breathing, muscle tone, skin colour and reflex irritability (sneezing or coughing) on a scale of one to ten. Scores of eight and above are considered to be signs of good health. The test was developed by Dr Virginia Apgar in 1952 and has been a simple and effective way of testing a baby's health since.

Researchers also made the point that only one in 44 newborns with a low Apgar score went on to need special education, so mothers of babies who had low scores did not have cause for concern.

Dr Richard Polin, director of neonatology at Columbia University Medical Center and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Fetus and Newborn, said: 'Most babies who have Apgar scores of seven or less do perfectly fine.'

Georgia Woman Accused of Sex with Three Boys

(Savannah, Georgia) A local woman, Shakeia Green, has been arrested and indicted on eight charges stemming from allegedly engaging in sex with three teenage boys under the age of 16.

The reported sexual episodes allegedly occurred in November 2009.

The charges include two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of statutory rape, and two counts of enticing a child among other charges.

Green was booked into custody at the Chatham County Jail. Details on bond are unavailable.

Gang-Raped Girl Commits Suicide

(Lakhimpur Kheri District, Uttar Pradesh, India) A 16-year-old girl, Pooja Tiwari, committed suicide after allegedly being gang-raped. Pooja's body was found hanging from a ceiling fan.




The girl left a suicide note stating that she had brought dishonor to her family.

Pooja's father claims she was gangraped by the village chief's husband Anu Verma and his men, who threatened to expose the teenager's alleged affair with her school teacher - whose role is also suspected.

"She was in the sugarcane field when they caught her and raped her. She started screaming and then the villagers found out about it," said Ram Prasad Tiwari, Pooja's father.

Police have detained the main (sic) accused Anu Verma and two of his accomplices.

A spate of crimes against women has been ongoing in the district (population approximately 80% Hindu, 20% Muslim) for at least a year. Video at the link.

Horse Love




(St. Johns, Michigan) A 62-year-old man, John Robert Mester, allegedly felt romantic one sunny day last month so he entered his neighbor's horse pasture to frolic intimately with a thoroughbred mare.

Mr. Mester faces charges of bestiality and aggravated indecent exposure.

Note that Mr. Mester was convicted in 2001 for a similar case after being caught engaging in illegal love with a pony.

Brit NHS Offering External Care Choices

(UK) The National Health Service in Britain appears to be taking baby steps toward privatization.

From April 2012, NHS patients will be able to choose from a range of qualified providers when referred by their GP for treatment, the Health Secretary Andrew Lansley has announced.

Accused immediately of privatising NHS care, Lansley said that more choice for patients would mean they could get the service provider best able to meet their needs and it would help to drive up the quality of services for everyone. The providers of these could be from the NHS providers, the private sector or voluntary or third sector organizations.

More choice, eh?

Absurdly naive study of the effects of marriage on children

Excerpt from a media report below. The researchers found that children tended to have similar levels of educational achievement to their parents regardless of whether the parents were married or not. Any student of IQ could have predicted that. IQ is overwhelmingly hereditary and negligibly influenced by the family environment. And IQ is the chief determinant of educational success. So the finding tells us nothing new or relevant

What is interesting is the socio-emotional progress of the child. What the study found was that parents reported satisfactory development in that respect regardless of whether they were married or not.

But that finding is entirely consistent with the children of marriages being better off in social development. It could well mean that married couples expect more of their children and so are less satisified even though the kids are quite good by objective standards

I note however that I have not been able to find online the full details of the study. The so-called more detailed report put online by the IFS is very scant on detail.

And what are economists at a fiscal studies body doing carrying out such research? When non-psychologists do psychological research they very commonly make methodological howlers. And even many psychologists can be psychometrically naive and end up using invalid measuring instruments. Being a psychometrician, I must have had a hundred or more academic publications pointing that out.

NO conclusions would seem warranted by this study

David Cameron's promised tax-break for couples has been dealt a blow after an influential think tank found that marriage actually provides few benefits to children.

Instead, the Institute for Fiscal Studies says that parents' qualifications are more likely to help or hinder the educational and emotional development of a child. It found there was 'little or no evidence' to support the idea that marital status affects children in the commonly held belief, pouring cold water on Mr Cameron's plans to fix 'Broken Britain.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies concedes that there is a difference but says this is down to the education attainment of a child's mother and father.

The report from the IFS concluded: 'We can find no strong evidence that marriage leads to better cognitive or social outcomes for children than cohabitation. 'Policies aimed at encouraging parents to get married before they bear children thus require a rationale other than one based on the impact of marriage on child development.'

Ellen Greaves, research economist at the IFS, said: 'It is true that children born to married couples are on average more cognitively and emotionally successful than children born to cohabiting couples.

'But careful analysis shows that this largely reflects the differences between the types of people who decide to get married and those who don't. 'On average those who marry tend to come from more advantaged families, and are more cognitively and emotionally successful themselves, than those who cohabit.

'This explains the differences in outcomes for children. Marriage itself appears to confer little, if any, benefit in terms of child development.'

The children were broken up into three different age groups and then asked to carry out tasks. The three-year-olds had their vocabulary tested by being asked to identify pictures.

Five-year-olds had to recognise patterns and also had their vocabulary tested while the seven-year-olds were given basic maths problems and had to answer word recognition.

The second part of the study, sponsored by the Nuffield Institute, involved the questioning of parents to find out how they believed their child was developing through a series of 40 questions.

For their study the IFS used information from the Millennium Cohort Study, a sample of children born in the UK in the early 2000s; and the British Cohort Study, a census of individuals born in a particular week in 1970, whose children were surveyed in 2004.

License to Kill Endangered Species

A group of wind power developers has requested the issuance of an incidental take permit (ITP) from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to cover a 200-mile-wide corridor from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

Note that an incidental take permit allows “harassment, harm, pursuit, hunting, shooting, wounding, killing, trapping, capture, or collection of any threatened or endangered species.”

Species at risk in the corridor include whooping cranes, terns, piping plovers and lesser prairie chickens.

According to a government report, whooping cranes are at particular risk with the last remaining flock numbering a mere 247 birds.

The Obama administration is reportedly evaluating the ITP request. Since two left-leaning political interests (alternative energy advocates vs. animal advocates) are pitted against each other with the left-leaning Obama administration to decide, it's not clear which group has the advantage.

Public comment on the proposed ITP will be accepted until October 12.

Chinese "Sex Pill" Case

(Pattaya, Thailand) A 32-year-old bellboy at the Golden Beach Hotel, Mr. Nudeang Pokpan, was arrested after allegedly slipping a Chinese "sex pill" into the iced milk tea drink of his date, Ms. Porntima Paduang, a co-worker at the Golden Beach Hotel.

After she drank the ice milk tea she felt dizzy and scorching hot. Thereafter, the restuarant owner told her that he saw the suspect putting the “sex pill” into her beverage.

The victim stated that she trusted the suspect and did not think he would do this to her. The suspect was detained prosecuted along with the evidence.

Pokpan said he was in love.

UN Proposal: Paint Blue Helmets Green

Currently in preplanning is the establishment of a green-helmeted UN Climate Change Police Force. Just what's needed, eh?

Small island states, which could disappear beneath rising seas, are pushing the security council to intervene to combat the threat to their existence.

There has been talk, meanwhile, of a new environmental peacekeeping force – green helmets – which could step into conflicts caused by shrinking resources.

The UN secretary general, Ban Ki-Moon, is expected to address the meeting on Wednesday.

Based on the overall effectiveness of UN peacekeeping efforts to date, I suggest it's beyond ludicrous to launch a UN environmental peacekeeping force.

Wind Project Stalled



Here's a situation where two leaders in environmental advocacy do not appear to get along. A Kennedy is at odds with Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is accusing the Patrick administration of holding up Nstar’s proposed $4.6 billion merger with Northeast Utilities until the firms sign a deal to purchase electricity from the planned Cape Wind project.

“In effect, the state administration is trying to hold hostage the proposed Nstar-Northeast Utilities merger unless the two electric companies agree to buy Cape Wind’s power,” Kennedy, an environmental activist and son of slain Democratic icon Robert F. Kennedy, complained yesterday in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece.

Cape Wind aims to build 130 electricity-producing wind turbines offshore in Nantucket Sound and counts Gov. Deval Patrick and some environmentalists among the project’s supporters. But Kennedy and other environmentalists oppose the plan, claiming Cape Wind will tarnish Cape Cod’s coastline while charging consumers too much for electricity.

The Cape Wind effort is expected to generate electricity for sale at $0.25 per kilowatt-hour which is about double the price of competing generation sources such as coal, oil, nuclear and hydro. To be viable in the marketplace, wind generated electricity typically has to be subsidized with taxpayer dollars.

In addition to the direct costs of wind generated electricity, consumers also are subjected to seemingly-unrelated collateral costs due to unanticipated consequences of wind power.

Multiple wins for gun rights in Congress


The NRA-ILA is reporting on recent wins for gun rights in the U.S. Congress.

First was a House of Representatives Appropriations Committee amendment to the 2012 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies appropriations bill to block an attempt by the Obama Justice Department to require firearms dealers in southern border states to report any person who purchased more than one semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This would have enabled the BATFE to create the first phase of a national gun registration database.

Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.), sponsor of the amendment, noted: “For more than a decade, efforts to track rifle purchases and create a national gun registry have failed to gain support in Congress, so the ATF is working to implement these regulations using rules written by unelected bureaucrats.”

In addition to the infringement on Second Amendment rights, the affected firearms dealers worried about the increased workload and potential unintentional technical violations that could result in large fines or loss of their Federal Firearms License.

The Appropriations Committee also passed another amendment to kill a BATFE plan to prohibit the import of shotguns with "dangerous" features such as adjustable stocks and extended magazine tubes, features that are favored by sportsman and improve suitability for home defense.

Another win was the defeat of yet another attempt to deny gun ownership based soley on the FBI's "terrorist watch list." Not only has that list been proven arbitrary and too often mistaken, the U.S. Constitution does not allow any civil rights to be denied by bureaucratic order with no due process of law.

Also defeated was another attempt to overturn the Tiahrt Amendment, which is universally hated by gun control groups for prohibiting them access to the BATFE firearms trace database to be misused to further their gun control agenda.

Next, Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) teamed up with two other representatives to get an amendment passed to counter an Army Corps of Engineers regulation to ban firearms posession on 11 million acres of land and water managed by the Corp which would deny self defense rights to thousands of sportsman.

The NRA-ILA warned that these committee victories are not the final word on the matter as the anti-gun Obama administration will get the opportunity to try to prevail in the full House and recommends contacting your U.S. representatives to ensure freedom is protected.

Thug Assaults Journos Amid Topless Protesters




(Kiev, Ukraine) Upon receiving news that photographers in Georgia were being arrested on suspicion of spying, a small group of demonstrators gathered at the Georgian Embassy in Kiev.

The protest by members of the FEMEN women's group was aggressively disrupted.

A man came out of the embassy and began to disperse the movement’s activists without identifying himself.

Later, the man began striking the equipment of operators and photographers, demanding cessation of filming and photography.

In response to the journalists’ indignation at his behavior, the man punched a photo correspondent from Kommentarii.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia apologized and said the man who assaulted the journalist is a contract employee who has been fired.

US Tax Funds Building Mosques Overseas




Despite one's political persuasion, using American taxpayer dollars to build mosques in foreign countries doesn't appear to make a lick of sense. (Link)

Court Gender Ruling

(Malaysia) A Malaysian High Court has ruled that 26-year-old Ashraf Hafiz Abdul Aziz, a trans woman, is a man despite having completed sex reassignment surgery in 2008.

. . . while the country allows sex reassignment surgery, trans men and women cannot be legally recognised and the high court ruled that her surgery had merely changed her genitals, rather than her sex.

Aziz had sought a new identification card reflecting the physical modifications resulting from the reassignment surgery. Unfortunately for Aziz, the court apparently believes that biology is a function of chromosomes, not scalpels.

Carolina Teen Allegedly Sold for Sex

(Johnson County, North Carolina) A 41-year-old Newton Grove woman, Teresa Ashworth Page, has been arrested for allegedly selling a 15-year-old girl for sex during incidents occurring between September 2010 and May 2011.

Page faces a charge of felony child abuse by prostitution.

Page was paid to allow Johnny Franklin Thornton, 62, to rape the girl, Johnston County sheriff's investigators said.[…]

Thornton, of 8281 Harper House Road near Johnston County's Bentonville Battlefield, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, 10 counts of statutory rape or sexual offense and one count each of taking indecent liberties with a minor, felony conspiracy, assault by strangulation and assault on a female.

On one occasion, warrants say, Thornton strangled the girl to the point she passed out.

Thornton was assisted by his 23-year-old daughter-in-law, Tina Leigh Tucker, who faces charges of felony conspiracy, assault inflicting serious injury and two counts of first-degree rape.

Teacher Resigns After Arrest

(Jefferson, Georgia) A 27-year-old fourth-grade teacher with Jefferson City Schools, Crystal Doolittle, was arrested last week for allegedly being drunk in public and creating a disturbance.

Doolittle was arrested late Thursday night on charges she caused a scene Mike’s Down Under on Sycamore Street.

The bar manager called police at about 11 p.m. to report that Doolittle was being “loud and disorderly” in the parking lot, according to a report filed by a Jefferson police officer.

When the officer arrived, he started talking to the manager about what had happened. Doolittle ran over and started cursing at the officer.

When the officer told her that he would talk to her after he finished interviewing the manager, she ran over to his patrol car and started trying to open the doors and said, “Take me to jail,” the officer reported.

Doolittle was booked into custody at the Jackson County Jail. She was released on bond on Friday. On Monday, Doolittle reportedly resigned her teaching position.

Woman Accused of Sex Trafficking

(Cleveland, Ohio) A local woman, Pearline Richardson, has been arrested to face federal sex trafficking charges.

A 40-year-old Cleveland woman planned to take a Cleveland teen, along with several other women, to Florida so she could offer them as prostitutes near military bases, according to federal court records.

Pearline Richardson was arrested Thursday and charged with sex trafficking of a minor after a 16-year-old contacted the Crimes Against Children Task Force, which includes Cleveland Police, Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department and the Cleveland Office of the FBI.

Reportedly, Richardson is alleged to have prostituted women out of her home and had taken nude photos of the 16-year-old and posted them on an internet site, offering her and another woman for sex.

Richardson is in custody and scheduled to appear before a magistrate in federal court on Thursday.

Horse Surfing




(Manatee County, Florida) Horse-related water sports are popular with locals and tourists on the beaches adjacent to Palma Sola Causeway but there have been complaints.

Reportedly, the horses shoot out steaming flops of bacteria-laden manure to splash in the water and wash up on the beaches.

Claude D. Tankersley, the city’s public works director, said at the meeting that horses do contribute to the amount of fecal coliform in the Palma Sola Bay, which has been closed to swimmers three times in the past year because of high bacteria levels.

Tankersley said the measurements don’t indicate the precise contributor of the bacteria -- human, horse or canine. Still, he added, the state has recommended keeping horses out of natural waterways because of the damage their hoofs do to the shore and because their feces and urine can contribute to algae growth.

Tankersley’s report coupled with the state’s recommendation helped convince most of the city council to go along with him in asking the city attorney to write an ordinance banning horses on the causeway.

A proposed ordinance will be drafted for consideration at a future hearing.
