PIGS ON DUTY

The Israeli military will use any innovative method available for providing protection for their settlements. This story describes their latest endeavor, using guard pigs. Up until now, the Jewish settlements on the West Bank were patrolled by armed men with guard dogs. An organization called The Hebrew Battalion has received rabbinical approval to train pigs for guard duty. According to Kuti Ben-Yaakov, the leader of the project, pigs have a keener sense of smell and,
"The pigs will also be able to identify weapons from huge distances, and walk in the direction of the terrorist, thereby pointing him out.

"Moreover, this animal is considered to be dangerous by Islam and, according to the Muslim faith, a terrorist who touches a pig is not eligible for the 70 virgins in heaven."
It remains to be seen as to whether pigs will supplant dogs on the front lines, but one thing is certain. A million jokes are begging to be written from the statement that if you touch a pig, you won't get a virgin.
