Gaza Protesters Fighting Off Soldiers

Live blogging (noon EDT) of clash at Kfar Darom, one of the most religious of 21 settlements.
- Troops clashing w/protesters on roof of synagogue (est. 300 at start),

- Sand, paint, and diesel oil thrown on troops, soldiers spraying soap on protesters,

- IDF not armed but outnumber protesters 30 to 40 to one,

- SWAT teams carrying out settlers one by one,

- Soldiers trying to breech barbed wire encircling synagogue,

- Security forces trying to clear roof before nightfall (1300 EDT),

- Cranes being used to put IDF troops inside large containers onto synagogue roof,

- (1209 EDT) About 100 protesters on roof,

- Soldiers using water cannon shooting water mixed with blue dye and turpentine,

- Five police officers have been injured, taken away on stretchers,

- Police say that acid was thrown at them,

- Leader of the settlers holding Israeli flag on top of synagogue,

- (1220 EDT) Soldiers reach rooftop and are removing barbed wire,

- Soldiers have upper hand now (1235 EDT), protesters being apprehended and put on buses,

- (1240 EDT) Soldiers in control of roof, show's over.
Newscasters report that those apprehended will be prosecuted for violently fighting the police, security forces, soldiers, and SWAT teams. The non-violent protest became violent, resulting in five injured soldiers and two injured protesters.
