Aborted Fetus Wrapped as Christmas Gift

(San Juan, Texas) A Texas couple, Ruby Medina and Javier Gonzalez, have been arrested for allegedly attempting to dispose of an aborted fetus. Police found the fetus in a gift box underneath a Christmas tree.

Authorities say the woman induced an abortion seven months into pregnancy, then called medics to her home when she began bleeding. Police say the couple originally tried to flush the fetus down a toilet before changing plans.

The couple faces charges of abusing a corpse and tampering with evidence, but may face additional charges if authorities determine the fetus was born alive.

Medina and Gonzalez were booked into custody with bond set at $20,000 for both.
