Barney Frank Demands Senior Ferry Discount

(Suffolk County, Long Island, New York) It seems that Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) caused a scene last Friday when he loudly demanded the $1 senior discount for the ferry ride to Fire Island's popular gay destination called The Pines.
Frank was turned down by ticket clerks at the dock in Sayville because he didn't have the required Suffolk County Senior Citizens ID.

A witness reports, "Frank made such a drama over the senior rate that I contemplated offering him the dollar to cool down the situation."
I suggest that this snapshot into the character and personality of Rep. Frank indicates a level of pettiness customarily not seen in mature adults nor political leaders. Frankly, creating a scene over a lousy dollar is silly, even more so considering the congressman pockets wads from his position in the government.

Of course, there's the alternative possibility that the disputed discount wasn't the real motivation for Rep. Frank to create a scene. Maybe he wanted to cause a loud ruckus just to let everyone on Fire Island know that Mr. Bigshot is coming.
