(Tehran, Iran) Paul the Octopus, heralded for accuracy in predicting the outcome of of World Cup games, has been accused by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of spreading Western propaganda and superstition.

Ahmadinejad said that Paul is a "symbol of decadence and decay among his enemies."

"Those who believe in this type of thing cannot be the leaders of the global nations that aspire, like Iran, to human perfection, basing themselves in the love of all sacred values," he said.

So, it's official. Ahmadinejad is leading Iran to human perfection by blaming an octopus for spreading propaganda.
