Carolina Teacher Accused of Murder

(Detroit, Michigan) A 56-year-old instructor at Central Piedmont Community College, Julie Ann Hopwood, has been accused of fatally shooting her transgendered sibling's partner, 35-year-old Amy Chesbro.

It's alleged that Hopwood waited outside Chesbro's workplace, shot her several times when she appeared and then drove away.
A family member said relations between Julie Hopwood and her younger sibling had been tense since Patricia Jean Hopwood decided to become a man named PJ Redbird TwoRavens.

TwoRavens is Hopwood's younger sibling. He was born a female in 1965, but it's unclear how long he had been living as a man. By 2002 the name PJ Redbird TwoRavens begins showing up in voting records.

It was also unclear how long TwoRavens and Chesbro had been together. Family members described the pair as engaged, and they described themselves as "in a relationship" on the social networking website Facebook.

The pair sent out Christmas cards for years, said Frederick Leetch, TwoRavens' uncle.

Leetch said there was tension between TwoRavens and Hopwood since TwoRavens began living as a man.

"As best I understood it, she didn't like when her younger sister changed sex," Leetch said. "I think this is something that's been bothering her because she didn't have a sister anymore."

Lt. Tom Goralski, a Livonia police spokesman, said that theory was "not true," though he wouldn't elaborate.
Hopwood has a court appearance on December 28.
