Stepmom Guilty of Killing Toddler - Updated

(Macomb County, Michigan) A jury deliberated for a mere two hours before convicting 29-year-old Renee King of murder, criminal sexual conduct and child abuse in the death of two-year-old Lily Lynette Furneaux-Wolfenbarger.
After the verdict, Lauren Furneaux, the girl's mother, said that King would not be able to hurt any more children. "But it still doesn't bring Lily back," she said.

Furneaux, who wore a shirt that read "Justice for Lily," recounted a difficult custody arrangement with the girl's father, Jeffrey Wolfenbarger. King was watching Lily the day she died; Wolfenbarger was at work.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 10.

Stepmom Accused of Killing Toddler
[Previous 12/7/10 post]
(Macomb County, Michigan) A 28-year-old woman, Renee Marie King, has been accused of murder in the alleged rape and death of her two-year-old stepdaughter, Lily Lynette Furneaux-Wolfenbarger.

King faces charges of felony murder, criminal sexual conduct and first-degree child abuse.
“She’s very saddened by this incident, and she denies all the allegations,” her lawyer, Richard Glanda, said, reiterating King’s ongoing claims that she fell on the little girl in the shower.

“Her leg gave out. She lost her balance and she and the child fell, and that’s what may have caused the injured to the child.”
King remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail without bond.
