(Williamsburg, Virginia) In September 2010, a 41-year-old guard at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, Letica Dina Stagg, was convicted by a jury on one count of felony sex with an inmate. The jury recommended a $25 fine as punishment.
Circuit Court Judge Samuel Powell on Tuesday upheld the $25 fine, but reduced the felony count to a misdemeanor, saying "she has gone through enough."Defense lawyer Gordon Klugh said, "It was a matter of the heart she could not deny."
