(Union Grove, Texas) A 38-year-old English teacher at Union Grove High School, Angela Sue New, was arrested earlier today for allegedly engaging in an improper relationship with an 18-year-old student. New resigned her teaching position after her arrest.
The student involved was an 18-year-old Union Grove High School student.New was booked into custody at the Gregg County Jail with bond set at $20,000.
According to New's jail record, the offense happened April 22 -- less than two months before Union Grove's June 3 graduation.
