At 78, Buddy Hackett died at his home in California. I've always liked the guy. He was an average Joe with a great sense of humor. The newspaper column announcing his death had a piece of trivia about Buddy that I didn't know. From the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the story goes:
Hackett was invited to join the Three Stooges when "Curly" Howard, the bald-headed member of the comedy team, suffered a stroke in 1946. But Hackett declined, believing he could develop his own comedy style.
He did develop his own style and now it can only be seen on the screen. So long, pal.
