LITERACY IN AMERICA'S CITIES

For those people and businesses that ponder relocation within the United States, a recent study has evaluated and ranked metropolitan cities based upon literacy. Called America's Most Literate Cities, it was prepared by Jack Miller, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
The purpose of this study is to assess a collection of important factors related to literacy and literate behaviors. This study rates the most and least literate cities in the United States.
Sixty-four cities were evaluated in five literacy categories (Education, Publications, Newspapers, Libraries, and Booksellers) and, based on the results, assigned an overall rank. The top five cities are Minneapolis, Seattle, Denver, Atlanta, and San Francisco. Number 60 was San Antonio, followed by Detroit, Long Beach, Corpus Christi, and El Paso.

There are a lot of data presented and subject to interpretation. My quick review only noticed that three of the least literate cities are in Texas.
