MICROSOFT BEING SUED FOR VULNERABILITIES

There are so many people angry at Microsoft that a lawsuit had to be predictable. It seems a day doesn't go by without some new virus or worm or Trojan horse alert. Some companies are blowing their entire budgets on fixing infected machines or installing "patches" to prevent infection. The cost worldwide is massive and some consider Microsoft to be responsible since their software is easily attacked.

Filed by attorney Dana Taschner in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Marcy Levitas Hamilton, who had personal information stolen over the Internet, the lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and is proposed as a class action. It could include millions of plaintiffs if allowed to proceed. Microsoft said it will fight the attempt to certify the lawsuit as a class action.
"It's obvious Microsoft does not bear 100 percent of the responsibility for these problems, but it's just as obvious that they don't bear zero percent," said Bruce Schneier, chief technology officer at Counterpane Internet Security.
