(Reno, Nevada) In 1999, the world famous Mustang Ranch brothel was taken over by the Bureau of Land Management because of unpaid taxes. Since then, the BLM has been trying to dispose of the property. Collectable items were sold off on eBay last December.
In June, an attempt to sell the pink stucco main building and adjoining annex failed to elicit any bids that met the government's minimum so a new tactic will be tried.
The Bureau of Land Management is again auctioning the northern Nevada brothel on eBay -- this time with the "World Famous Mustang Ranch" trademark to sweeten the pot.If a deal cannot be realized with the trademark and name thrown in, maybe the government will reduce their minimum price. The amount they are asking for may not be in accordance with the current Blue Book value for used whorehouses.
"We're hoping the naming rights and trademark will do the trick and help sell the old ranch buildings this time around," BLM spokesman Mark Struble said.
