After being raided by federal agents for having illegals working for them, Wal-Mart has announced that it would review the legality of the rest of their million-plus workers and fire those that are illegal. Of note is that the workers arrested during the raid came from 18 different countries and included 20 Brazilians, 22 Mongolians, 35 Czechs, and 90 Mexicans.
Besides the raid, Wal-Mart may have been prompted to action by news that an anonymous law enforcement leaker stated they gathered recordings from wiretaps that indicate Wal-Mart executives knew the company's subcontractors used illegal workers. Also,
Though contract cleaning crews were the focus of the sweep, Wal-Mart spokeswoman Mona Williams said yesterday that about 10 Wal-Mart associates in Arizona and Kentucky were among those arrested.A comment is merited concerning the breakdown of the illegals arrested. It's fairly easy to understand that Mexicans and Brazilians would be represented since they could just walk North to the porous US Southern
"These are people who used to be part of the outside cleaning crew, and when we took that in-house, these folks were simply hired on as employees," Miss Williams said. "They got caught up in the immigration sweep."
Wal-Mart began moving toward using its own workers to clean floors at its stores about a year ago.
It's also not comforting to know that the Senate Judiciary Committee is rewarding these illegals by having them only pay in-state tuition rates when attending college. College will probably come after they get their driver's llicense with absolutely no proof of who they are or where they came from.
What a damn mess!
