Reward Offered in I-270 Sniper Shooting Case

(Columbus, Ohio) Eleven shootings have occurred on the southern section of the Outer Belt of I-270 around Columbus since last May. All but one of the shootings have been within the past 60 days. Two have been linked to the same weapon with one resulting in the death of Gail Knisley last Tuesday.

Yesterday, Franklin County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Steve Martin announced at a news conference that several areas businesses have established a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the death of Gail Knisley.

(Update) The public has been asked to be on the lookout for suspicious people in the area of the Interstate highway carrying shotguns and rifles. The announcement came coincident with the deer hunting season and about 450,000 deer licenses have been issued in Ohio. It would probably be counterproductive to report seeing individuals in the woods with guns prior to the end of the deer hunting season, December 7th.

(Update 12/02/03 6pm) Television news is right now reporting that, according to Chief Deputy Steve Martin, a total of twelve shootings along I-270 have been identified and all are linked.
