New Paltz Mayor Charged for Marrying Homosexuals

(New Paltz, New York) Jason West, the Green Party extremist who promised to energize all city facilities with solar power if elected mayor, has been charged with "solemnizing a marriage without a license" by the Ulster County District Attorney Donald Williams for performing 19 homosexual "marriages." The electorate wasn't too happy when they found that his solar power idea would cost millions more than just buying power from the utility and they're even less happy that he's now flagrantly breaking the law. This includes bypassing the city clerk in the licensing process and manufacturing his own "marriage certificates."

The charges against West carry a possible two years in prison plus a fine of $500, but this punishment is considered unlikely. Nonetheless, Village Trustee Robert Hebel plans to file "removal from office" paperwork next week.

Hopefully, the events surrounding Jason West will convey to New Paltz voters the consequences of electing an extremist to public office. I doubt it though. New York liberals have a tendency of not learning from their mistakes.
