Greenies Targeting Cell Phones

It's probably because cell phones are not part of the "natural" world that various environmental groups are trying to get them banned on public lands. Or maybe, they're just an annoyance. Either way, the greenies want action. According to celebrity leftist, Jim Hightower,
"How many of you want to go to a National Park to hear cell phones in the wild? Confront your congress critters on this - write, call, or ask in person why Congress okayed this pollution of the people's parks."
The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) has already accused the National Park Service (NPS) of malfeasance for not requiring an environmental assessment for the erection of cell towers in the wilderness. The apparent goal is to prevent any cell towers from being built in or around public lands. In a valid response, the NPS has stated that cell phones provide public safety communications during emergencies requiring life-saving assistance.

My take is that cell phones can truly be an annoyance. However, I don't think that freedoms in America should be taken away just because some people are annoyed. I also believe that the action by the environmentalists is only a small initiative in their overall campaign to outlaw everything that annoys them in society. I'm convinced that the greenies won't be satisfied until all people eat organic vegetables, the automobile is outlawed, all animals have rights, all electricity comes from the sun and wind, and everybody lives happily ever after frolicking among the wildflowers in the beautiful meadows of Mother Earth.

Stay tuned. You'll be hearing more about this in the future.
