Brits Debate Hunting Ban
The animal rights crowd think hunting with hounds is cruel (in reality, the animal rights crowd want all hunting to be banned and they're continually inching toward that goal). The hunters are not rejoicing. Protesters stormed the House of Commons and were arrested while, outside Parliament, a pro-hunting rally degenerated into violence resulting in at least 19 injured, including two police officers.
While not condoning any lawbreaking, I've got to side with the pro-hunting advocacy on the issue. As I understand, the do-gooder animal rights advocacy is pushing the issue of hunting with hounds as cruel to the foxes. For some reason, the hunting of carnivorous vermin with hounds is cruel while reversing the history and traditions of Britain is not. Nor is it apparently cruel to wipe out a whole industry, taking away the livelihood of many Brits.
Personally, I don't think the word "cruel" should ever be applied to the process of eradicating vermin.
