Retired from the US Army National Guard, Lt. Col. Bill Burkett has been known to pass around stories about George W. Bush and now is collecting stink as the potential source of the forged documents. Burkett seems to be Dan Rather's unimpeachable source for information on Bush's National Guard service, yet a simple history of Burkett indicates that the only aspect about him that is unimpeachable is his seething hatred for George W. Bush. It's assumed that the reason Dan Rather doesn't want to reveal Burkett as his source is because the guy is an embarrassment.
Interestingly, it's now been learned that the forged documents were faxed from a Kinkos Copy Center somewhere near Abilene, Texas. Burkett has a standing account and has been seen recently at a Kinkos Copy Center in the area.
Meanwhile, Dan Rather is now stating that he may have used forged documents but it doesn't matter because what they say is true. Next he'll probably throw away the documents and state that we should just believe him because he knows everything.
RATHER: "You must believe me. I'm a reporter."The story continues.
THE PUBLIC: "If you're a reporter, where are your documents?"
RATHER: "Documents! Documents! I don't need no stinking documents!"
