Elite Media Claim Credit For Rathergate

Kevin Aylward at Wizbang clearly shows that any claims of responsibility for Rathergate by the major media are false. The depth, the detail, the variety, and the sheer number of reports by the blogosphere easily outdistances anything the major media may claim. To cite a previous entry,
It's interesting that the breaking of the story and the search for leads and supporting information have been done by bloggers who, chances are, will never be given due credit. One could say this is an example of a classic cliche where the bloggers have won the battle and it's time for the elite media to bayonet the wounded.

Sometime down the road, one can also probably expect that a journalism award will be handed to a member of the major media for investigative reporting on the forgery fiasco and the blogosphere will be lucky to get a brief mention. This brings to mind another cliche related to large endeavors, "rewards go to the non-participants."
There should be little doubt as to the genesis and maturation of the Rathergate story. Without Buckhead's Posts, Little Green Footballs, Powerline, AllahPundit, Wizbang, Rathergate, Spoons, INDC Journal, Ace of Spades HQ, Captain's Quarters, and many others, there would be no Rathergate, the American public would have been defrauded, and CBS would continue to be stealthily recognized as a de facto extension of the Democratic Party.
