(Lorain, Ohio) Consistent with pronouncements of the elite media, former Democratic Senator Max Cleland yesterday told a holiday crowd that Ohio is a high-unemployment, poverty-stricken wasteland and it's all President Bush's fault. An estimated 10,000 union members and their families listened during Sunday's 10th Annual Labor Day Family Celebration at Lakeview Park as Cleland called Ohio "ground zero" for the election of the next president.
The crowd was asked to vote for John Kerry or, if President Bush is reelected, expect Ohio to continue to be a sewer. However, he promised the Democrats would come with aid for Ohio and Ohio's unions. Ominously, he threatened that:
"With four more years of George Bush, there won't be any more organized labor."I don't think any rational person would buy that President Bush plans to make the unions disappear.
Sponsors expected 30,000 (versus 10,000 actual) union faithful to attend the event which featured Jerry Springer and appearances by Congressfolks Sherrod Brown, Marcy Kaptur and Ted Strickland.
