Schwarzenegger Vetos Driver's Licenses For Aliens

There are many illegal alien advocates angry at Gov. Schwarzenegger for vetoing the bill to grant driving privileges to non-citizens. Not the least of which is the government of Mexico which sent Juan Bosco Mart, general director for North American affairs with the Foreign Relations Secretariat (SRE), to complain to the press.
Bosco said the inability of undocumented workers to obtain a driver's license hurts all migrants in California, not just Mexicans.

"The Mexican government will continue to defend the interests of the Mexican community residing in California within the realm of the laws of the United States and California," he said.
What! Huh?

Since when are illegal border crossers acting "within the realm of the laws of the United States?" They are trespassing in a foreign country. They crossed an international border without a passport, without a visa, without permission and the action is not within the realm of legal behavior according to the laws of the United States. Somebody needs to challenge Mr. Bosco Marti on his definition of "within the realm of the laws."

Of course, I'm convinced that the media won't challenge him because they see the illegal aliens as possessing measurably more equality than actual American citizens. The subject of illegal aliens and the porous borders of the U.S. incenses me considerably and I congratulate Digger for being able to closely follow the issue without pulling his hair out.
