Blasts Kill At Least 34 In Pakistan

From a report in the Star Online (Malaysia):
Two bombs exploded at a gathering of Islamic radicals in the central Pakistan city of Multan early Thursday, killing at least 34 people and injuring dozens, police said.

Hundreds of people had gathered in a residential area in the city to mark the anniversary of the death of the leader of the outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba group, killed in an attack last year.

A car bomb exploded near the venue, and within minutes a second bomb attached to a motorcycle went off, deputy city police chief Arshad Mohammed said.

Multan's police chief, Skindar Hayyat, said that at least 34 people were killed.

Dr. Mohammed Tayyab at the Nishtar government hospital in the city said they had received 34 dead bodies and 70 injured.
Occurring at about 2340 GMT Wednesday, the attack appears to be one group of terrorists blowing up another group of terrorists. It's suggested that the bombs were exploded in the gathering of radical Sunni Muslims because they are believed responsible for a suicide bombing of Shia Muslims that occurred last week in the eastern city of Sialkot, killing 31 people and injuring more than 50.
