Chinese Embassy Appeals For Release of 8 Hostages

In a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Iraq, the Chinese government appealed to the kidnappers for the timely release of the eight hostages, "considering the humanitarianism, Islamic tolerance spirit and Chinese people's friendly feelings for the Iraqi people."

[Update 0800 EST] HOSTAGES FREED

According to a Reuters report, the Chinese Embassy has confirmed that the hostages have been freed. A video was produced showing the release with a message that stated "the Numaan Brigades have decided to release the eight" since the Chinese government has banned its citizens from entering Iraq.
