Mexican Woman Deported for Sexual Assault on Boy

(Brownsville, Texas) From The Brownsville Herald:
A Mexican woman was deported after she pleaded guilty to having sex with the 15-year-old son of a friend.

According to police, Rosa Amelia Lara, 27, and her children came from Mexico to live with a friend in Brownsville last year.

Lara began a consensual sexual relationship with her friend's 15-year-son shortly after moving in.

Although the boy's mother approved, another family member did not and reported the illegal sexual contact to authorities.

Brownsville police arrested Lara in January and charged her with sexual assault of a child.

The crime is a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
State District Judge Abel Limas sentenced Lara to 10 years deferred adjudication on May 20 as a result of her guilty plea. Subsequently, Lara was deported with the stipulation that she would face 20 years in prison if she returns to the United States illegally.

It appears that illegal aliens convicted of crimes in the U.S. can avoid going to prison by simply being deported. Someone will have to convince me that this is a good idea.
