Pete Fountain Lost & Found
(New Orleans) Pete Fountain, the world-famous Dixieland clarinetist and New Orleans institution, was feared to be among Hurricane Katrina’s victims. Thankfully, he escaped the storm's path ahead of landfall, but had not yet established contact with his sister who had initially alerted police.
Splendid. Pete Fountain has always been one of my favorite entertainers. I particularly like his Half-Fast Marching Band that treks the entire length of Bourbon Street on Fat Tuesday, stopping for refreshments many times along the way.
