Naughty Japanese Schoolgirls

(Tokyo) Japanese high school girls are engaging in the contracted sex business for hundreds of dollars per month.


Apparently, the girls do business through Internet dating sites offering "contract lovers." From the Mainichi Daily News comes this example:

Akina, a 17-year-old from Kanagawa Prefecture, has contracts with five men who pay her 50,000 yen a month whether they meet or not. (The 250,000 yen she gets is more than the starting wage for most recent university graduates.) As well as classes, Akina also keeps up her 900-yen per hour convenience store job.

"If you lose that innocence, you're no different to the average sex worker. These guys are paying me 50,000 yen a month because they want a high school girl," Akina tells Shukan Post. "No matter how much money I get, I really take care to make sure that my attitude and attitude toward money don't change too much." [ed. - current exchange rate is 112 yen per dollar]

The contract lover scheme replaces a blatant form of prostitution called enjo kosai, meaning "compensated dating," which was banned in the late 1990s along with child pornography and child prostitution. The government was disturbing late in acting on the issues and, notably, the prevalence of contract lovers in Japanese society hasn't been reported.
