Navy Searching for Brig Escapee

(Bangor, Washington) Be on the lookout for escapee James Tait Praefke, a 37-year-old U.S. Navy Aviation Electrician's Mate who was court-martialed, convicted, and sentenced for possessing stolen ammunition and attempting to smuggle explosives. Praefke was helping a guard provide lunches to other inmates when he disappeared.

At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Praefke is trouble. He has used the aliases James Walter Praefke and James Tait Krueger and has a history of weapons use, domestic violence and drunken driving; espouses pro-militia, anti-government views, and is experienced in making bombs. Praefke's wife Keran stated that he's a terrorist and she's afraid of him.

Praefke is unpredictable, on the lam, and likes to play with explosives. He needs to be caught. Anyone with information should call the Naval Criminal Investigative Service or the FBI.
