Cushy Secret Prison for Sex Convicts Exposed

(Devens, Massachusetts) For the last year, the federal government has quietly deposited 459 convicted sex offenders at a cushy hospital in Massachusetts and, according to prison spokesman John Colautti, "very rewarding" psychiatric benefits to sex offenders are provided. Unfortunately, nobody told the local residents.

From Bostonherald.com:
[N]ews that Devens has quietly become home to hundreds of perverts shocked the Devens region, where the former military base is being transformed into housing and businesses.

"That's just scary," said Devens resident Kristi Stoltzfus, who learned of the program yesterday from a reporter. "They probably figured do it first, apologize later."

The program wasn't intentionally kept secret, Colautti said. But Faye L. Morrison, chair of the Ayer board of selectmen, blasted the feds for keeping mum.

"I'm not saying it's not safe, but we need to know in case something happens," she said.
Interestingly, calls to the office of the district congressman, U.S. Rep. Martin Meehan (D-Lowell), were not returned. Meehan is probably in consultation with his damage control committee. I'm certain that the residents of just about Anytown, U.S.A., would be galled to all of a sudden learn that they had been swamped with perverts.

From Jay Tea at Wizbang who opines that the influx of federal sex offenders is likely a government program to counter Massachusetts' disturbing decline in population.
