Five Men Arrested in Teen Sex Investigation

(Johnstown, Pennsylvania) The investigation in this case began when the mother of a 13-year-old boy reported that her son was being sexually abused by his stepfather.

From Post-Gazette.com:
State police yesterday arrested five men, including a part-time police officer for the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown and the school's head of alumni relations, in an investigation into sexual misconduct involving at least two teenage boys.

The investigation, which included allegations of child molestation against some of the defendants, grew out of a mother's suspicions that her 13-year-old was being molested by his stepfather. That investigation, which stretched from this Cambria County city to the town of Surprise, Ariz., involved tracing Internet chat room activity, and eventually focused on five men, four of whom had their online conversations with a 17-year-old boy logged and recorded by police.

Arrested were: William Gillen, 53; Jeffrey Haire, 40; William Leckey, 39; Paul Skiles, 63; and David Walylko, 42.

State police held a news conference to announce the arrests, which Capt. Harvey Cole, commanding officer of Troop A Greensburg, described as "the tip of the iceberg" in a widespread investigation.

Twenty-two officers were involved in yesterday's arrests, said Capt. Cole, with forensic teams out collecting evidence and seizing laptop computers, hard drives and hundreds of pages of printed material.
Tip of the iceberg, eh?
