(San Francisco, California) Palestinian immigrant, Sirhan Sirhan, was sentenced to death for fatally shooting Senator Robert Kennedy in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. The sentence was later commuted to life in prison with the possibility of parole. Yesterday, Sirhan Sirhan saw parole denied for the 13th time.
From Reuters.com:
Sirhan, who turns 62 on Sunday, has been seeking to win his freedom since 1972.So, Sirhan will continue to enjoy cellblock life alongside Charles Manson at Corcoran State Prison. Maybe the two are really, really close, if you catch my drift. Nevertheless, it would have been a waste of effort to send Sirhan's papers to Schwarzenegger.
Had the Board of Parole recommended parole, the matter would have gone to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for final review. Kennedy was the uncle of Schwarzenegger's wife, Maria Shriver.
"The panel found that he continues to pose an unacceptable risk to public safety and felt that he was not suitable for parole," Tip Kindel, a spokesman for the Board of Prison Terms, said of Sirhan.
