Mob Boss 'Big Ange' Lonardo Dies
(Cleveland, Ohio) Long time crime kingpin, Angelo 'Big Ange' Lonardo died yesterday at the age of 95. Big Ange (pictured circa 1977) ran the Cleveland omerta thugocracy until 1983 when he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
Always the dealmaker, Big Ange turned government witness to get out of the joint. Ultimately, his inside knowledge of organized crime and subsequent testimony led to dozens of convictions of Mafia members from Cleveland, Kansas City, Milwaukee and Chicago. He even ratted out his cousins and snitched on the Teamsters Union.
Big Ange was a smoker who spent much of his time in taverns. Statistics indicate that his habits should have affected his longevity. What a guy! He even cheated statistical projections of life span.
Condolences to the family.
