Party Teacher Arrested for Sex Assault

(Magnolia, Texas) A 28-year-old former art teacher at Magnolia High School, Lisa Minchew, was arrested this morning and charged with sexually assaulting male students ranging in ages 14 through 16. She was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and held on $75,000 bail. Minchew currently faces three counts of sexual assault of a child.

During the summer of 2005, Minchew started working for the Magnolia ISD where her husband also works. In February 2006, Minchew was suspended from her position after allegations surfaced that she went to a student party with alcohol and had sex with a student. In March, she was terminated.

Investigators said many of the details did not come to light until Minchew showed up at another teenage party last month where she once again brought alcohol.

"Some children (who) had been there, had been involved in an accident after they had been drinking," Sclider said. [Lt. Joel Sclider with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office]

Officials said the students were in her car when they crashed after driving drunk. That's when they said the students began to provide more information and evidence about the alleged sexual assaults.

The investigation continues.
