Teacher Gets No Jail for Sex with Student

(Waskom, Texas) Last May, Waskom High School math teacher, Ashley Grisham, was arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a student. She reportedly confessed to the sexual encounters and stated they occurred while she was separated from her husband.

Grisham was charged with felony improper relations with a student and released on $25,000 bond. She resigned her position with the school system.

Earlier today, Ashley Grisham pleaded guilty in accordance with a plea agreement and was sentenced to six years probation. She was also fined $2,000, ordered to perform 500 hours of community service and directed to undergo psychiatric evaluation and counseling. Her Louisiana teaching credentials have been revoked for life.

In related news, fellow Waskom High School teacher Daryl Phillips, 31, who was arrested concurrent with Grisham and faces similar charges, is awaiting trial.
