Muslim Cabbies Face Penalties for Refusing Fares

This report came out last week.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Muslim cabdrivers at Minnesota's biggest airport will face new penalties, including a two-year revocation of their taxi permits, if they refuse to give rides to travelers carrying liquor or accompanied by dogs, the board overseeing operations ruled Monday.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission, which was responding to complaints about the liquor issue, voted unanimously to impose the penalties, which take effect in May.
First offense will be a 30-day suspension. After that, a refused fare will result in a two-year taxi license revocation.

If I were in charge, the taxi company would also face penalties. After all, they are expected to provide a service and the airport authorities have a right to demand a professional and respectful operation.

The stunt the Muslim cabbies tried reminds me of the "White Only" lunch counters back in the 1950s. It's blatantly arrogant discrimination against people simply because they are different. Even so, nobody should be surprised since the Muslim drivers' behavior is fairly consistent with the level of tolerance and diversity we usually see from the religion of peace.

Kudos to the Metropolitan Airports Commission.
