Restrictions on Homework

(Toronto, Canada) There is entirely too much educatin' going on in Canada, according to two teenage trustees of the Toronto District School Board. Consequently, teen trustees Nick Kennedy and Ted Kuhn have asked the school board to approve a new homework policy.
The new homework policy the Toronto District School Board is being asked to consider:
- Homework assignments cannot exceed 10 minutes per grade, per night

- No "overloading" students with homework on weekends; assign equivalent of only one night's homework

- Include time spent reading in allotted homework time

- No homework during March Break or Christmas holidays

- No tests on Mondays
The board already approved a policy proposed last week by teen trustee Kuhn that puts "a four-day pre-examination moratorium on major assignments and activities so that students writing exams won't be saddled with homework."

It's believed that the new policy will "help stressed-out students" and provide consistency throughout the district, according to Kuhn.

Also, it's logical to assume that the Toronto District School Board is trending toward possibly having even younger trustees advocating longer recess periods, video games in each classroom and the abolition of school detention. The complete elimination of adult influence on the school board is possibly the utopian goal.
