Teacher Guilty of Drug and Weapons Charges
(Kailua, Hawaii) Last February, a 38-year-old math and reading teacher at Kaelepule Elementary School, Bronwyn Kugle, was arrested on federal drug charges and for possessing a loaded weapon not registered to her. Kugle allegedly conspired to distribute cocaine and Ecstasy.
Yesterday, Kugle tearfully pleaded guilty to federal drug and firearms charges including conspiring to traffic in cocaine and Ecstasy and to being a drug user who kept a loaded pistol within easy reach.
Kugle told the court that she is embarrassed and sorry because she is a school teacher.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 5th. According to federal guidelines, she faces at least five years in prison.
