Teacher Gets Prison for Lesbian Sex with Student - Updated

(Brisbane, Australia) Today in Brisbane District Court, 28-year-old Amanda Louise Thompson was sentenced by Acting Judge Brian Devereaux to seven and one-half years in prison for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Acting Judge Brian Devereaux said he accepted submissions that Thompson was an immature adult, but said her betrayal of trust was "severe".

"Students, school authorities, parents and the whole community all trust teachers to conduct themselves properly," he said.

"You infiltrated her family and took advantage of their trust in you as a teacher," the judge said.

Understandably, Thompson is prohibited from ever working with children again.

Notably, it has not been disclosed whether the 14-year-old girl ever got over her eating disorder which is the reason the relationship with Thompson started in the first place. In any event, seven and one-half years should be sufficient time for Thompson to rethink her proclivity for engaging in sex with underage girls.

Teacher Guilty of Lesbian Sex with Student - Updated

(Brisbane, Australia) Twenty-eight-year-old Amanda Louise Thompson has been found guilty in Brisbane District Court of unlawful sex with a 14-year-old female student between April 2003 and 2005.

Prosecutor Todd Fuller said that Thompson took advantage of the girl while tutoring her in math and helping her with an eating disorder.

"This wasn't a Good Samaritan act ... this was much, much more than that," he said.

Mr Fuller read out extracts from a love note allegedly written by Thompson to the girl, saying it was evidence the friendship between the pair had developed into something beyond a normal teacher-student relationship.

"I love you very much and I always will," the note read.

"Please always remember that you mean the world to me and you always will."

Thompson's lawyer Mark Johnson told the jury there was no denying the relationship between the two was "bordering on bizarre at least".

With the conviction, Thompson was remanded to custody to await a sentencing date. Psychological and psychiatric evaluations were ordered. It's not known whether the girl still has an eating disorder. (Tip: JR)

Teacher Under the Blanket With Girl

(Brisbane, Australia) A 26-year-old high school teacher, Amanda Louise Thompson, will stand trial on 229 counts of indecently dealing with a child under 16 and in her care.

In a four-day part-heard committal hearing, which started in November and finally concluded yesterday, the Beenleigh Magistrate's Court was told Thompson was seen by witnesses hugging, kissing, fondling and having oral sex with the girl, then aged between 14 and 16, and plying her with liquor.

The court was told that Thompson's then husband had become concerned about his wife's relationship with the student when he frequently found them lying in closed rooms or under a blanket upon his arrival home from work.

A trial date hasn't been scheduled yet.

Frankly, I wonder how many of the "frequently found" incidents had to occur before the husband got a clue. I'm probably being picky, but once should have been enough. Hopefully, that 229 counts number is deceiving. Even the most microscopic mentality should be able figure things out after -- oh -- 100 or 150 blanket incidents.
