Uganda Banning Plastic Bags
(Kampala, Uganda) According to State Minister for Environment Jessica Eriyo, Uganda has banned plastic bags of 30 microns and smaller thicknesses, effective July 1st with a grace period to September 1st to allow for depletion of stock. The ban is part of an East African initiative to promote a clean and healthy environment.
Minister Eriyo has called upon "researchers, investors and individuals to think about environmentally friendly replacements" in addition to paper bags.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't we all have plastic bags shoved down our throats as the environmentally-friendly replacements for paper bags in order to save trees?
Typical. One step forward to save the Earth results in two steps back to fix the screwups.
