Payoff in Teacher Duct Tape Case
(Rome, New York) A student, Adam Roser, accused remedial math teacher at W.A. Wettel Elementary School, Elaine Main, of wrapping "tape around Roser's head several times, covering his mouth, ears and nose for several minutes in January 2004."
Main was suspended for 30 days and deducted a week's pay.
Yesterday, Roser and his mother, Loree Larkin, received a settlement of $33,250 for a lawsuit filed against the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill school district in central New York.
Atypically, the teacher wasn't charged with assault or abuse.
