Girl, 14, and Boy, 13, Accused of Raping Each Other

(Wellington, Kansas) Arguably, this episode could be handled to everyone's benefit without making it into a major court case.

The 14 year-old girl has been charged with aggravated criminal sodomy and rape after having intercourse with a 13 year-old boy who faces similar charges.

In a recent court session, Sumner County Court Judge Richard Bedfort ruled that the proceedings will be closed to the press and the public. Therefore, we may never know what happens in the case.

Without knowing the elements of the alleged offenses, it hard to assess the appropriateness of prosecuting two kids. On the surface, though, it sure looks like the local legal eagles are going overboard.
