Nurse Shortage Delays Surgery

(Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) A 19-year-old man, Matt Kuhne, broke his neck in three places last week in a motorcycle accident. He was told that there would be a five-day wait for surgery to stabilize his neck due to a shortage of intensive care nurses.

Since there was media interest in Kuhne's story, Queensland Premiere Peter Beattie got involved and, yesterday, the surgery was performed.
Mr Beattie said Mr Kuhne underwent surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital but denied he had the case "shuffled up the queue."

The premier said he did not intervene because the case had received media attention, but to ensure it was being handled properly.
For those who believe the smoke pumping of Premiere Beattie, I'd like to remind them that I'm still selling carbon offset certifications.

For those who believe socialized medicine is the end-all be-all, you too can take advantage of the Interested-Participant Carbon Offset Sale. And, unlike socialized medicine, there's no chance you'll die while waiting.
